Stinger removal!

Hi guys my KM 5b has been running like a dream, not had any probs at all up untill today! Today is the first time i have run it without the stinger on the stock exhaust, after being told that it may help me gain a little bottom end. It started absolutely fine no probs but while i was letting it idle as i do for a little while before any run it just cut out and would not start:(
This is the first time i have not been able to start it since i got it. Would the removal of the stinger made that much of a difference that im now gonna have to retune it?
I checked for spark which is good and i have great commpresion but my plug seems quite wet and blackend. Any ideas on the matter would be much appreciated:)
 
Just because the plug has spark does not mean its enough spark to run so I would try a new plug. Any changes that are made to the motor or exhaust should require a little re-tuning but not enough for the engine not to crank I would think that is a problem some where else.
 
sounds to me like you fouled your plug out, Letting a 2 stroke sit and idle for too long will load them up flood out and foul the plug, All you have to do is be easy on the throttle till she gets warmed up, They arent meant to sit and idle for a long time.

I did assume it would prob need a tweak but like you say i didnt think it would be enogh to stop it it running. Will pick up a plug tommorow. Does quality of plug matter much with these engines? Would i be better off say with an NGK as apposed to the TORCH plug that it came with?

I don't let it idle for long literaly long enough to roll a cigarete! I know the NGK is a CMR7H do any other manufacturs make plugs for these cars and if so do you know of the part numbers?
 
take you plug into autozone or advance auto and tell them to cross match it for ya......My last plug from there cost me like 3 bucks and lasts as long as the stock plugs do

Think im gonna have to go match it up as i have been on loads of plug comparison sites on line i say loads i found 3 or 4 and none of them list the NGK CMR7H yet they list about a million other plugs made by them!
 
Just picked the missus up from work getting a little dark now to run it so will give it a go tomorrow hopefully get a new plug at the price of them its worth getting a few as reserves.
 
Finaly got to run the KM today and it ran like a dream i think i may have had some bad fuel!
Filled it with some fresh fuel and some new oil that my dad gave me. I was running it with some cheap oil before but now have some decent motorcross stuff my dad had in stock being a motorcycle mechanic makes him kinda handy lol.
Im not 100% percent sure what the oil is cos its still in my car outside but it seems good stuff. My engine is running sweeter than it ever has and it goes like stink.
Had to re-tune slightly due to removing the stinger and i think the change in oil may have made a little difference too!
I did just clean the plug up like i said i would a quick wire brush up and a wipe with a rag and it looked like new so i don't think i had a plug issue which is good cos i didnt get a chance to get a new one.
