Help me out guys, I am thinking about going to a ported head for the 2 bolt CY23 that's in my Marder clone buggy. I don't really need gobs of torque, but it has to be smooth, reliable, consistent and have a good amount of mid and top rpm. I am planning on possibly getting the 4wd conversion so it has to be able to spin that too. (If I can get the suspension set the way I want it, I may not need the 4wd.)
The performance I have now is OK, but it's a slug and I know there is a ton of room for improvement. The new head will be mounted on the stock 2 bolt CY case. No strokers, I am not looking to dump in a O'Neils 30.5 into this! I would be willing to go to a 26cc but no larger. Think, light and responsive, not wheelies and burnouts. That's what my MT is for.
No marine heads or anything that has Iron crosses, snakes, or dragons on it. It must appear to be stock.
I am not looking to spend more than around $150 for the head, preferably a Zenoah head, but I am open to suggestions. No Trever Simpson ridiculousness, he is WAY out of my price range.. I want something that looks stock on the outside, so I can put the black cover back on it, but something that really rips!
I will also be looking for a pipe to go with this setup. I am thinking about the FG pipe. I like the FG pipe because it's aluminum so it's light, I won't have to remove half the body to mount it and it's relatively quiet. I am open to suggestions, but I am NOT putting a hillbilly Dom pipe on it! I plan to race this, not show off to the local hicks.
I bought a piece of land and I am thinking about building a track, but before I do that, I need something that will really run and handle like a professional, uugh "Race Car" (I hate that term) I gots to be representin, You know! (I'm sorry, I will never do that again) But I do need something that is light and quick. I can drive, quite well actually, but now I need a 1/6 car that will outrun Savages and Revos on the track, currently I can barely keep up with them.
After I get some suggestions, I am going to start a poll to get some votes, the winner will be mounted in the Mutilator if/when I get the 4wd kit.
I will start a request for suspension tuning tips in the Marder section.
Thanks,
Trip..
