I have an old Spektrum DX3 and I need another receiver for my other vehicle. Do I have to buy another spektrum receiver or can I go with my preferred brand of Airtronics?

Thanks,
Trip..

you ll need a spektrum rx, or the knockoff rx for specktrums from Hobby King. though im not sure if they do a surface Rx, may only do the Air Rx at hobbyking.

ya pretty much the orignal S3000 and 3001 model RXs if im not mistaken. i don't think the newer DSM2 RXs are compatible with the older DX3.

You could also pick up a Losi MRX-3000 receiver for around $30.00, saves you a little bit of money.

I too have been running an older Spektrum radio for years and I've recently decided it was time to try a different brand of radio gear and am now awaiting for my Futaba 4PL to be delivered next week. :D

Yup, Pipeous reminded me that the Losi receivers were re-badged Spektrum units... I think I am going back to Airtronics. I hate this spektrum, I never have liked JR radio gear...

My junk works, it's just ugly as buttocks! I was thinking about a new receiver, but I can toss another 60 bucks and have the Airtronics controller I have wanted for the past 2 years...

It's that ford vs chev thing. we all like certain things. I stick with jr for the comfort zone of knowing the menus without needing a manual. nothing wrong with anything airtronics makes. I love their servos... Airtronics actually sells bags of the litle plastic gears down inside that strip so you don't have to replace all the metal ones that never strip... not many other companies offer that. Futaba you have to find a similar plastic gear servo, buy that gear set to get one little plastic one
