Hey Guy's

Just wondering if anyone in Australia has any of the long awaited Titan hop ups,
ie, alloy diff housing, cv joint drive shafts, etc

I have made many modifications to my Titan,

Jetpro pipe,
cy 29.5
walbro 813
full metal hitec servos
spektrum radio,
hpi baja shocks on all 4 corners
and numerous other mods

But it's time for some stronger bits for all the power and handling I have.

Cheers Dean :)

G'day Dean,

What about some details and pics of your Titan. Also how did you manage to install the Baja shocks:2guns:

Hey Guy's, I'll post some pics tomorrow just haven't had a chance to take any yet.
Chris, I haven't been out for a couple of weeks due to family commitments, wife has been in hospital so I've been very busy with 3 children.
The Baja as you last saw has been rebuilt but the 813 is very worn and sucking air big time, hence the crap tune and I robbed the shocks for the Titan for the moment, Antonio has a full set for me I just have to get to him hopefully later this week and then the Baja will be complete again.
I picked up futaba BLS 351 Brushless 15.6 kg servo for the throttle/brake on the Baja I just have to fit it and buy a new 813.
The Titan handles like a 1/8 buggy with the shock mod I did, I have made prototype suspension towers for it and I have drawn a new set that I am going to get cut that will look and fit like factory, should be very good.
Cheers Dean :)

Mate hope the wife's alright.

Just remember with that new servo, RX off before TX :)

Haven't been out that way for a while either, last time was when I saw you over at radical, I fixed my pinion bolt snapping issue now in the baja and she's finally running well, bout 5 tanks in a row and no issues whatsoever.... fingers crossed

Thanks Mate, she's recovering slowly !
That was the last time I was out as well...........and point taken re the radio, these servo's are getting pricey lol

Here are some shots boys,

JetproPipe.jpg

The pipe is excellent it comes in at the top end of the rev range and just sings, with the 200mm diameter fg monsters on the top speed is insane.

Bodycutout.jpg

LowSideshot.jpg

I want to be able to drop the truck nice and low or give it heaps of clearance so I have plenty of options with the new mounting plate for shock positions.

LowerArmMod.jpg

I used a step drill and opened the oval cut out in the lower arms out to 12mm to fit the baga ball ends, the plastic arms drilled easy and I gave them a quick clean up with the dremel

FrontShockTower.jpg

Mounting plate is half a stainless butt hinge cut and fitted, the final tower will hopefully look factory and be fitted in the factory position.

I'll do them in groups of 5 so they don't take to long to load.

Next Lot,

FrontCorner-1.jpg

BumpstopMod.jpg

Bump stops and end point adjustment have worked and I have not thrown a dog bone since.

BatteryCarrier.jpg

Stock battery is garbage, I did re-configure a 4200 ddm pack to fit inside the stock radio box but I cooked a cell when soldering it all back. Not Happy. This is a 5 cell venom pack, I had some aluminum channel laying around so I cut and fitted it, the battery sits fine with some rubber matting around it.

Radioboxswitchand2Hitecs.jpg

Relocated the switch, much easier to get to.

RearShockTowerwithvariousholes.jpg

Its a lump of stainless but good for testing

RearShock.jpg

I used the Baja rears shocks for the extra strength, there is a lot of weight at the rear of this and I reckon front shocks would be to weak.

ReversedPinionandspurformoretopend.jpg

The small mount on the Jetpro didn't quite fit so I re-did it.

SideviewBatteryCarrier.jpg

I drilled the pop rivets out and turned the curved stinger down so it exits between the chassis and the body,
it was pointing straight out the side and blowing into the inside of the body shell

UpgradedFuellineandgrommetstotank.jpg

I didn't like the soft fuel line so I got some grommets and fitted a better quality line

Hope you like them,

Cheers Dean :2guns:

I like your rig........how do you like the tunedpipe? I'm working on getting a titan from a US seller on ebay $1149 shipped.

You guys in Aussy get alot better deals than we do here in the USA on the 1/5 vehicles.....I seen the titan for 999 Au on ebay australia.

the MCD is also cheaper....Me thinks some of our 1/5 dealers love money more than giving people in the hobby better deals.:dots:

The tuned pipe is amazing, it is very much a top end pipe or high rpm.
The speed of the Titan is unbelievable, much faster than my Baja and thats quick, especially with the FG monster truck tires.
Its so fast I am thinking of putting my pinion and spur gear back the way they where so I have more punch of the line because I really can't use all that speed and that way the pipe will come into affect a lot earlier and it should be more balanced all round.

Regarding you purchasing a Titan with the US dollar stronger than the Aussie dollar you can get one from here for around $1200 Aus which would be about $1000 us and then get a cost on postage..........food for thought :)

Looks good Dean, thanks for sharing:2guns:

What engine and pipe(Jetpro) do you have on it mate? Do you have any probs parts falling off since you did the power upgrade? :clown: Also did you use front Baja shocks only?

Thanks for ideas mate:cool2:

The engine is the original 23 cy from my Baja, its has a stuffed crank and a 29.5 head kit on it, 813 carb.
The rear shocks are Baja rears, fronts are fronts, I don't think the fronts would be any good on the rear, too short and soft.
I have used a 100 x 100 mm stainless hinge for the 2 plates and drilled holes to experiment for heights, I am going to cut a fresh plate for the front and rear when I draw it up.
At the moment its just bolted to existing but I want to replace the existing with a new design.

Cheers Dean :cool2:

Also re parts falling off I went over the thing first and loctited everything, so far so good !!

Thanks again Dean. Pls post some pics again of your final shock tower set up.

I'm very interested to hear if you have any probs twisting dog bones with those extra power and will love see it running:2guns:

Maybe you can bash with us sometimes. Monaroman, I and mates bash every or almost every weekend:cool2:

Very nice rig, the Titan deserve to be a lot more popular than what it is. Its cheap, RTR and an excellent, original design. Those alloy parts shown earlier are not Smartech parts they are hobbytech parts with a price to match. I'll wait for the smartech ones to toughen up my Titan.
