I too have the HF 90 cheapie. Mine worked just fine until my 17 year old wanted to learn to weld, so he took it upon himself to learn. Unfortunately he tried to weld brass! Which of course made a mess and plugged the tip, he tried to remove the tip but it was stuck to the nozzle which he then chucked into the vise.. To make a long story short, I now have a fully brazed tip and a nozzle that was ripped (including the feed tube) from the gun.

Anybody have any ideas?

sounds like a royal mess. IF you can still unscrew the tip, these are cheap to buy. If you are running the stock tip- its .035" - if you are running 030" wire, replce the tip with a 030"- you will have a more stable arc-. There is no need at all to even have the gas style nozzle on the hf90 flux mig.Remove it and replace it with a piece of full sized automobile fuel hose- lube the hose and screw it onto the threads- eyball the hose before you cut- cut it so there is about 1/2 " or a bit less of the tip exposed. A small jar of nozzle gel will help- smear a little bit of this on the outside of the tip- this is where the wire comes out.- By removeing the nozzle -replacing with hose- you will be able to see the stick out better- the hf90 being a hot tip- you will be able to start the bead better- see what you are doing. When you cannot see the puddle because of the slag anyways- Worked like a champ for me-- WARNING! do NOT remove the nozzle on a gas mig!-- Only on the hf90 has this been tested and it works like a champ.
