By steering knuckles i was refering to the black plastic endlinks for the steering, they technically arent the knuckles, they are the tie rods i suppose, but they both broke, sheared right off the top of the spindle.
Trust me man, i under stand the terratory im in, and I honestly believe i got a "junk" unit.

This part just isnt something that normally breaks and should be a common fix, this break is bullshit if you ask me. Ive never heard of anyone breaking this part on their trucks..., its not the same as a bent shock or a broken arm mount or something like that. Hell, if i would have broken this by jumping it and landing on it, or crashing it, i would expect it to break, but thats not the case at all, this broke during breaking in the motor....

I really have no desire to tear the motor apart, and then be stuck figuring how to put it back together. if there was a few good photos of tearing one of these down, i would be all over fixing it, but atleast right now, it still runs and might beable to be salvageable for something.

Ive owned RC cars my whole life, as well as alot of other toys that require maintinence, but in my opinion this is a bit crazy, all these problems in this short of time. Im probably going to sell it and buy a 5t or keep it, and buy a 5t anyways. I just got a bit soured to the redcat name with this ... and if you cant understand the reasoning, then im at a loss for another way to describe it to you.

These issues after a years use.... stomachable , solveable and fixable.... these problems after 2 hrs of use.... at a loss for words.
Regardless of what 1/5 scale you get, you need to know how to work on these engines. poop happens, you fix it. TeamFastEddy has a 9 part series on engine rebuilding on Youtube. Learn it, you'll need it eventually.

Here's video 1:

Another thing, you'll get the same engine with a 5t as you will with a Rampage. These are somewhat low quality engines, if you're not happy with that, buy a Zenoah, or throw a Zenoah 2 bolt head kit on it.

Aint nothin to it but to do it! Just swap out the broken head for a new one, trust me while your going thru the process of takin off the old one (very few steps involved) and puttin on the new one, your gonna be askin yourself "why was I worried about having problems fixin that". You say you have been into R/C for a while now, so trust me, if and when you decide to fix your truck your gonna turn red when you realize just how easy changing the head is. I hope you decide to keep your truck and put forward the effort of fixin it. Im sure it will grow on you, and you will be glad you did!....... ;)

hm lucky i bought a dunerunner v3...seems so far after popping in my 30.5cc i had only a dogbone pin loss problem and spun a gear due to no locktight...but that's replaceable and replaced .I am amazed these stock gears hold up!

I have jumped this thing ran through rough gravel and straight into slanted curbs

for Spiro jumps spinning in the air....and it just keeps running and running

also hitting a speed bump can launch this sucker in the air pretty good... :)

someone making a 2 speed for this yet?

peace

P.S thanks Rob for fixing the forums and supplying the hopups needed for these...looking at them metal gears so far

any hint on whats needed for high end on the gearing? (with this 30.5cc ported and polished torque monster?)
