X-MAXX WITH XLX2 AND 1100KV MOTOR

Hello there, my name is TJ. I have a X-MAXX I bought used for $300 (had a bad esc) and I put the castle creations XLX2 and the 1100KV motor in with it. My problem that i am having is that this monster is constantly destroying gears. I have tried several different spur and pinion gears and no matter what the pinion gear is always destroyed after the first run if i even get the even test drive it. I have yet to actually get to play with this thing. I have even gone to my local hobby store ands asked them for help but they were not able to help they didn't know what to do as the company they were going to recommend is no longer in business, I even went as far as calling Castle Creations themselves and they told me the same thing the hobby store did. The company they were going to recommend is out of business. I was told by a few people to go to belt drive. I have heard mixed things about belt. For those of you running the XLX2 and 1100KV motor in your rc's what are you guys using gear wise? I would like it to be fast but not uncontrollably fast, I also would like to do some bashing but nothing extreme. Thank YOU!!!!!

Hey man , so my x-maxx is on the more powerful side also. I was having the same issue until I got the 1.5mod gears took me a lil while to find the ones I wanted but I have a bunch of diff sizes now not exactly sure what the brand was but if your not running 1.5 you should be with that much power it works out great for me and I send mine to the moon this here is my new one I bought and did a whole re build ! Things a beast !

Hey, I have a Castle XLX2 with a giant motor (can’t recall what KV it is at the moment) in my Traxxas XRT. What I did was put mod 1.5 gears and also use the Castle programming software to tune the acceleration and braking. There is an option in there to make it so that even when you press full throttle it gradually accelerates so that you don’t strip gears (and by “gradually” it is still very fast and does wheelies on command). It also allows you to tune the braking percentage so it doesn’t strip gears when you brake from high speed.

If you could by chance find out who they are made by I would really appreciate that. I could of sworn I bought some 1.5 gears on it and they instantly stripped. Thank You!!!
