Hi all,
Seems that what I thought was an engine for my FG Marder I'm building is different to the one installed into my built car.

The built car has Zenoah G0123D, whereas the engine in the box of bits is a G2D which has a mounting arrangement which looks significantly different to the engine in the built up car.

Am I able to get mounts and use it in my Marder?

Cheers

Wow some real old engines!.
I have an old solo and yours is even older.
Most people upgrade to a newer Zenaoh or CY engine, FG went to 26cc in 2000's. So anything from 23-31.5cc will work fine and you can get engine parts / mounting hardware, no problem.
Parts for those old engines can be hard to find.
Heres a link to a later 2009 catalog, that will help you figure out what's is needed with schematics and part numbers + upgrades that were available.
If you need more help,lmk.
Good Luck?

Thanks for this, the engine is in great condition and has loads of compression but if its expensive to get the fan cover and igniter I may consign it to the bin

It depends on your budget + what type of driving you want to do really.
I realize not everyone wants a wild uncontrollable monster.
OBR 31.5 are good but for a lot of people with 2wd, it could be a hand full.
I don't know your level of experience,so as long as you get a 4bolt engine (23-31.5) - all use the same engine case, you'll be able to upgrade your power level as needed by getting a head Kit.
No mods to your vehicle except possibly with the obr billet engines as they are wider then stock. I found that out with my OBR 29.5 and had to make new engine mounting holes(FG Evo/Comp).
If you want a lot of power the OBR engine's are a good choice.
I would get the obr 29.5 or SMALLER because, with the superlight weight of marders you don't need the extra low end that a 31.5 provides.
The heavier a vehicle the more low end you need to get it moving.
You can get a stock engine also,it's cheaper and upgrade as needed.
Zenoah and CY are compatible.
I advise you to at least get at a 4bolt engine (over 2bolt) for upgradability + strength.
New FG marders come stock with CY V26cc 4bolt engines and the same head Kit upgrades apply.
As far as balance and usability,I was advised a 26cc is the best all around size for speed and power.

I looked for you and ddm has G2d parts but, I'd get a newer better engine.
I'm leaving that up to you decide. I try be as thorough as I can with the info I give.
