got a link?
ive looked at a couple cheaper ignition systems and the cheaper ones seem to lack the ability to adjust timing, they just give a hotter spark. being able to adjust the timing, and the timing curve is what will increase power and efficiency. this is where a system like the oddified ecu is nice
I was actualy looking at this onehttp://www.justengines.co.uk/acatalog/Other_Ignition_Systems.html
says in the instructions not to use the same power source as the receiver. it also was mentioning current draw for 8000rpm, leading me to believe this system wont handle the high rpm cars run up to (planes don't rev very high), and i wonder how well the system would take to the constant rpm changes.
i think if we just had a hotter stock replacement coil we would see pretty well the same gains. back when i used to help out working on a jr dragster (most wont know what that is, its a 150" wheelbase dragster powered by a 5hp briggs and stratton 4 stroke for kids 8-17 to race 1/8 mile) all we used was a hotter bolt on coil, and had a bracket made to be able to slide the coil on to adjust timing. we ran quite high compression and on alcohol or 110 octane and never had an ignition issue or spark blow out.
i think what we need is for a manufacturer to step up and make just a good bolt on coil.
BiggaJ At £148.57 ill pass on that Thanks.
Sharkey i have mailed just engines to see if they can handle the constant RPM change just waiting for a reply.
the electronic ignitions can be used on pretty much anything, the only restriction is having one with a cap that fits the spark plug.
