I just came across this on ebay and am thinking this will be my next rc. I sold my first king motors baja and was very happy with it. So i saw the one with all the goodies and the two speed and ALL aluminum and am looking to see if anyone has purchased one? If so....Good?

I have the alloy one-speed. I must say it's very well constructed and parts swap out with HPI great. I am eye-balling the two-speed mainly for the low-end response, but don't think I'd ever have room for the top end. But it looks solid to me, maybe someone else will report once they have bashed one a bit.
One down-fall with KM electronics is you either get good units or bad ones, my steering servo went kaput right away bu danlc4 made good on it and sent me a much nicer metal one to replace it! Only other thing I've broken is the wing from rolling it and a wheel... I snapped it clean off the hub, but I don't blame the car for that, it was 0 degrees out and I was rallying pretty hard :)
I say hurry up and buy it so you start upgrading sooner :w00t:

The wife's into it too. See, that's what I'm talk'n bout.

Is it the KM-3.0 you want (alloy everything) or the KM Rev 2 Speed like BigBOOy has? I'm totally new to even seriously looking at 1/5 scale, but far from new with R/C cars. I'd run from alloy arms. Plastic is the way to go for me. When I break the stock ones, I'll replace them with RPM plastic arms. I should hopefully join you guy's family before the month is out. I'm getting what BigBOOy has. I just wish the body was clear.

I don't know what I want.km baja 3.0 2 speed looks good but heavy. The 2.0 looks good too and 699 not bad but your right the plastic is beter for raceing or bashing and a lot lighter so with the two speed should be very fast.I might just get a hpi baja ss.

Weight

My big question about the 3.0 was the weight as well. The specs say it weighs 38 lbs while the HPI Baja weighs 21 lbs. That is a whopping 17 lbs difference. On a car that small, 17 lbs seems like it would suck the life out of the car, especially in the sand. Even the KSRC-002 2-speed car weighs 30 lbs. Has anyone tried either of these cars in the sand (the King Motors cars)? It just seems like they would be dogs in the sand because of weight.
