1 are they any good {should have realy asked this before i got it but you all now how it is}
2 how the range been for you in your set up
3 does anybody use the telemitry rpm/temp sensors i do plan to
4 whats the score with the v2 over the first model any better or no difference
anyone got any pics of sensors mounted for rpm sensor would realy help cheers guys

youll get mixed emotions on this. early spekky's were hit and miss, range issues galore. since DSM2 was release these issues were addressed.

ive run a DX3S DSM2 for 30 tanks in a nitro, 20 tanks in XRC, 40+ tanks in FG MT and 62tanks and going in a FG Baja and never missed a beat!

they look good, their light, plenty of functions and reliable (now).

i love mine after reading the manual to discover what everything does. I am not sure if the tele will work on largescale stuff haven't tried it on any on mine but it worked on my hyper 9 pro as it mounts on the side of a nitro engine and picks up off the flywheel. Have you got a rpm sensor?

yeah it comes with the handset 2rxs temp sensor rpm sensor fittings ect ive seen a couple of vids on youtube of it working so going to try it

I find that the range on the Spektrums is mostly limited by the Tx batteries, put some decent NiMh in it, don't let them drop below 4.7V and you'll be OK.

I've wrapped one of the temp sensors around the head on my FG Baja, exiting through the ignition lead grommet, and extended the wires by soldering another 4" to get it back to the radio box. Works a treat (runs at about 100C on tracks, but peaks about 120C if I cane it). See pic below, the wire runs under the fuel tank, and up the outside of the fan casing.

I haven't got around to putting the RPM sensor in though, a good place may be on the small engine mount looking at the flywheel, or on the large engine mount looking at the clutch bell

cheers your fg looks sweet like the wing/alloy cage mount ive brought a couple of 300mm servo extension leads to save making wires longer just plug and play

its here sweet service from modelsport uk via ebay on first impresions im well happy smaller than it looks in pics and very light nice neat package inc decals cant get over how short the rx arieal is i cant see it getting out the rx box much only going to need a 2/3 inch arial tube which is great going to fit it today and set failsafe ect but waiting for my 300mm servo extension leads to fit sensors cleaned the bug shell and removed the old decals to make way for the spektrum ones and its looking better will try and get it all working by the weekend

installed the rx in the car and setup the failsafe and 3ch killswitch it also works now when you turn off handset never been able to get it to do that on my other handsets cut down my arieal tube now got enough of it left over for the on road the arieal is so short it now looks funny just a 2 inch tube poking out the bug shell instead of the 12/14 inchs it had before this was the eastest handset ive ever had to setup realy easy menus great helpfull manual as well would highly recomend one if your thinking about a new handset so far 10 out off 10 only downside is its raining big time at the mo so cant play just got to fit sensors and get a ballon for rx so i don't drown this one and im good to go

two things to look out for short range and if you have to reverse a servo in the set up make sure you do a rebind if you don't rebind your fail safe will work backwards

its got to be a longer range than the last handset i had a sanwa gemini 2 great handset crap range and would glitch bad ive setup the servos so shouldnt need to reverse them unless i have to change any thing in the future

ive never really pushed the range on my DX3S to be hones. Think 100m or just over it, never had a need to go further than that to be honest, even if you do the built in failsafe will kick in, but i think any decent 2.4 will have this function.

Apart frpm the 30 model memory. Why is the R £100 more?

I really like the idea of the DX3-3, Its cheap and I can see how hot my motor is and how fast my car is going, But just wanted to make sure the R is that much better?

I have an HPI Baja 5B, and I have the Spektrum DX3R radio system. I have successfully installed all 3 telemetry sensors in my vehicle. If you have any questions, just pm me. Hope I can help.
