Those running front cables or hydros - do you still have the layshaft brake connected or have you done away with it? Im running cables and will be uprating my servo to a higher torque unit but was also thinking of disconnecting the layshaft brake. What do you think?

i run front fg cable brakes plus tps rear layshaft hydro setup and throttle all from a savox its got plenty of stopping power and never had any problems

I ran the layshaft and front fg tuning brake kit, works excellent, thought about disconting the layshaft brake but surley 4 wheel braking is better than two.

With the 7955 I can lock up all four wheels on any surface on 100% braking, but has excellent feel.

Ive just taken the layshaft brake off so will be running with just front tuning brakes. Ive never really looked at it in any detail just adjusted it but no wonder it wasnt working very well. There was a pad missing and the disc was running between the 2 backing plates. The pad that was there was effectively the inner backing plate. I always blamed the Hitec 645mg for not having enough oomph but it goes to show it pays to do a full strip down :(

Will see how it goes without it but I can always put it back on properly with new pads if its shite! Ordered a new Bluebird 630mg servo with 14kgs of torque which Im picking up tomorrow. It should stand on its nose with that :D

I'm running front hydro with layshaft fibre disc.
I reckon 80-90% of the braking is done by the fronts and I probably wouldn't notice if the layshaft wasn't working !!
Al.

Ran today with just the front cables and no layshaft brake and it definitely needs to go back on!! The fronts were locking up but the back end was just pushing it along with the momentum of the engine through the back wheels. I will get new disc & pads & reinstate it before the next outing! If you are thinking of trying it.........don't bother :p
