My older brother was a bartender most of his life. He truly believed you can ask a question and get some information, or argue with them and get all the information... so why not provoke a bit sometimes ;)

When people are calm, as in a relaxed conversation, they are able to retain certain details they don't wish disclosed, but if you aggravate them, they're less calm, less cool, more likely to 'spill the beans'.

Sorry, but that is just an excuse for someone to act like an a##hole. Provoking someone into an argument just to find out stuff (which is mostly likely utterly trivial) is loser city. Better not to find out if the other person doesn't feel the need to expand.....

unfortunately, Humans are much more reserved and gaurded that we used to be. I blame Technology myself.

but i concur. even when someone ASKs for help, they are still not being totally forthcoming with pertinant information. sometimes you have to piss them off so emotion will take over rational thought. this allows them to lower their inhibitions, and tell you info, you would likely of never got before.

its not being a dink, its digging for all the information. if a situation/crisis is to be solved, the more info you have about it, the easier a solution is to find.

My brother is old and retired now and working on being a grandpa, he's allowed to be an ass by right.

When it comes to rc I'll give any trick or tip I know freely. I don't guard hidden secrets like some. On the flip side I won't give up all my detailing secrets because that's how I make a living and it's about money, unless some ass is arguing with me and I let something slip ;)
