Hi all, I'm new to the forums here, but I just bought one of the KM 2 speed Baja buggies from ebay.. I got it for a slight discount.. I hope I didn't make a mistake.. I have ready alot about the HPI 5b but at $1000.00 or more is costly for a gas buggy. As I use to run the SavageSS for many years and got alot of my parts from China.. So as for all my airplanes I get from there so I think there copy of the HPI 5B, should be good for the price.. Under $700.00 RTR is good for me. Do the HPI parts work for the KM's?

Thanks
Mike

They are supposed to be fully interchangeable. I just ordered a KM as well, just the 23cc entry version and have not received it yet so I can't confirm.

I just bought one too (minus the discount:(). It will be in tomorrow. Supposedly this version has a more durable diff and stronger plastic. I don't know if the servos are better in this version than previously. There are some areas that I expect trouble sooner or later on this car and the 5B. I've already ordered some RPM parts which will go on right away. I bought a new as well. Now I just need some good wheels, but I've spent too much already for now. I hear that a 4000mah or higher battery would be a good idea.

Yeh i bought one of these but it cost me $1200 (the orange version) with the tuned pipe and lots of aluminium. I have had trouble getting it started, after 5 mins it stalled and now when i go to restart it the back wheels spin as though its in gear, you guys had this problem, or do you know what it is?

I got mine in. The right front wheel fell off soon as I took it out the box. The left is one the edge of doing the same. The right E-clip came off on and is halfway off the other. This is no big deal, The HPI's have the same issue. I already ordered extended drives which I will mod to use screws rather than clips. Other than that, the buggie "looks" great. I'm not even going to fire it up until all the mods are on.

I found one video of this car so far.

Mine won't even get started till I make a few mods:

RPM suspension arms
RPM spark plug guard
RPM rear skid
wheel extenders with enclosed nuts
new body, new paint job
pullstart and air filter prefilters
shock covers
...and some shock oil.

I don't know if it is because I can't see it too well in the video but, mine scars the grass bad. I couldn't even imagine the lawn if I had a more aggressive tire.
It would probally turn my lawn into a sandpit.

Then you wouldn't have to got to the beach! It's a win, win!

I had 2 FG MT's racing around my backyard for about 2 hours, the lawn was never the same!

i got mine Christmas Eve..I've only run about a tank of fuel so far...But i already had to make a change.....The air filter kept vibrating loose...So i ordered a DDM billet one along with the H-Bomb,,hard rear shock springs,,,alum. rear shock towers and supports,,and RPM front bumper and spark plug cover..On top of that i installed the Killer Bee failsafe...NOW I'M READY TO THRASH!!!!........BUT IT'S SO DAMN COLD OUT SIDE RIGHT NOW!!!

How many of you all tear down your new Buggies before you run them up for the first time? I was thinking when mine shows up I'll tear it down and lock-tight all the fasteners. I have been reading a lot on this forum and I keep seeing how some screw has backed off and did some kind of damage to the buggies! Plus it will give me the time to change out the pull starter rope. I did this to my weed eater the first day I got it because I have always broke the rope.. Cable is much stronger and lasts forever.... Just a though thats all.. I hope i'm not spinning my wheels on this, but as most things that come out of China are not lock-tighted at all.....

The guys here make tracks by painting the outline on the grass and running the buggies with aggressive tires. 3 weekends later, it's mostly dirt.

I pulled my FG apart before running it, so I would definitely pull down a :chinese: made rig...

I have over 50 gallons of fuel ran through my 3 motors (2 CY's and a Zen) and I have never broken a pull rope...If you know the length of the rope you shouldn't have any problems... If you "Armstrong" the pull rope past it's length, they will break. Pull the rope out until it stops, then let it retract about 6 inches, mark a spot on the rope with a black marker and look for the mark when you are pulling the motor over, if you see it, don't pull so far.

If you rotate the pullstart so the rope comes out the back, you'll reduce the amount of rope you'll pull out. You'll go back to the nitro pullstart method and away from the lawnmower starting method, I think they're easier to start too.

Got mine in the Mail yesterday and broke it down to the bones.. I'm glad I did only like one or two screws had lock-tight on them. The air filter assy, I can not open up at all. I'm going to try and heat it up to see if it has Lock-tight on it.. I tried to open it up with a poop load of force but could not get it to turn.... So when I contacted Dan(the ebay dealer) he told me sometimes you have to heat it up with a hair dryer then unscrew it... Wish me luck.. LOL

I'm trying to get the motor off, but I need to get the 2-speed off first. How do you do that? I took the center screw out. Now I need to get the large aluminum shoes out, but there's nothing to grab to pull it off the shaft. I can't get anything behind it to push or pry it off. So what do I do?

If you look on the side of the two big gears you will see holes... If you move the buggy around you will see two screws thru those holes. Remove those screws and the aluminum plate will slide off. I hope this helps.

How many of you bough any thing from engage rc or Dan at king motor rc. I been having my baja for 3 weeks and ran 3 tanks out it and it is fast. I raced a jato and it was close to a tie. Anyone know of a good monster truck, 1/5 scale.
