Just collected my new KM 2.0 Baja this evening - will post some thoughts over the weekend but first impressions are great - I used to own an original HPI Baja 5B a couple of years back so it will be good to see how this compares and hopefully get a chance to give it a run. Will get some pics up too.........

Very nice Voo2doo! Looks like yours has some sweet mods compared to mine...............what have you changed and was yours originally a 2.0 KM?

You had any teething probs with it? ie Radio, engine etc?

Cheers

RR ;)

Virtually standard apart from the rear tyres, shell, outwears, carb, fuel-line,intake manifold, all elec's,spoiler, wheel extenders.
I had an issue with the radio gear that resulted in a wipe-out at WOT so I changer all the elecs.:(

Voo2doo, I see your ramp doesn't kickup on the top.. how big is your ramp? I'm looking for a small ramp to go with my two others, though the current small one (30 inches tall 48" wide, 48" by 48" footprint) throws the baja up pretty good I'm not ready to break stuff with the big ramp (almost 7 feet straight up from ground to top of kick up)

that ramp looks like mine, however mine has more of a kickup at the top, I've launced my max probably close to 20 feet straight up and about 30 feet out with it, if it didn't have so much kickup it would go so much further.. and probably do less damage, ripped the skid off when I hit it in 2nd jumping the burn pit, but it works great for the slash

mine doesn't have that flip out panel though and its covered in wood... gonna recover it soon the wood got messed up the past years weather, even though it was painted, whatever I recover it in I'm going to add some kind of no skid stuff to it so that I can stop part way up or take it at a lower speed instead of full tilt and still go over it

Great looking buggy! my buddy just got a KM and loves it. It did shear off a pinion gear after we put the 30.5cc big bore kit in it lol other then that the car is perfect!

Here are couple of pics before I get it dirty

So far I have checked it over and swapped out some fasteners. Replace the chinese spark plug for an NGK race plug. Replaced the plug cap for an NGK one. Replaced the throttle/brake servo as it was sticking if you moved the throttle too fast? Linkage not binding - servo making straining noise? Fitted a new HD metal geared one and its now sweet. Replaced the radio gear to Spektrum 2.4Ghz. Steering servo seems fine but will have to see how it performes when I run it. Luckily I had all these spare so have not had to spend any extra so far. Couple of other minor adjustments...... Fuelled it up at 25-1 for the first tank and started after a dozen or so pulls...not bad. Found that the high and low speed mixtures where out and lean - re-set to factory settings and test run - sounds well sweet and is crisp and responsive - and loud! This will improve more no doubt when it has loosened up a little with use.

So far I am really pleased and looking forward to running next weekend now..............

that looks sweet mate, i like the fall guy sticker too, i used to watch that when i was a kid, brings back memories
nice collection you got there now, i like the bike, don't know much about rc bikes to be honest.. bet it's fun though :)

Well just a quick update on the KM 2.0. It's Awesome! Ran a full tank through today (25-1) with my youngest son at the controls..............was a little tight for the first 10-15 mins but after that it started to loosen a little and shows great potential! The exhaust note reminds me of an old mx bike and is seriously loud!

Power seems great and this is only running in settings so will improve some more. No problems with any of the braking or handling and ran non stop for the whole tank of fuel.

Next upgrade is the 5T conversion kit - wheels body etc. Also going to upgrade the steering servo as it slow and underpowered - worked ok on the smooth tarmac we used to run in on today but will not be up to the job once we go off road next time out!

Will post some updates as soon as they happen.

Have fun!

from what i read the 5755 for steering with the mount adaptor, or PA mount is way to go. thats what im gonna do on mine along with a 7955 for T/Brake, and new radio, 4pks

I use the 5745MG since the 5755 was not made at that time. WAY better and much stronger. It will hold its steer much better and you will not have to worry as much about the servo saver being too tight.

im gonna run with majority of thots on it tho, and go with 5755mg. it might be smaller in actual size but seems to be a tougher lil servo. least from all the stats i read on it.

No, your right. The 5755 is a better servo. It was not made when I did the mod. They only had the 805BB which had plastic gears. They finally got smart and put a set of metal gears in the servo and BANG they started selling. I meant the rest of what I said about upgrading the stock one in general.. Sorry didn't clarify that too well. ;)
