Been out to test baja today after 8 weeks chasing down an air leak replacing allsorts along the way, finally got it bang on loving the sound of the 29cc and then pinion breaks!! Mashing spur gear at same time!!

I reckon that I was a bad person in another life! :mad:

But at least I've run the buggy now! Here's thanks to T2BOATS!!!!!

that pinion mashed you must off done some damage to get it like that :( i don't like baja's much they aint build as stronge as fg but im sure that aint an expensive fix check on flebay must me some used once.
 
NO WAY!! Ahh unlucky mate. I can't quite make out what's bust on the pinion, has the lug stripped/rounded off? Wondering if something jammed beyond the spur gear locking it which added to the teeth being stripped clean off...
Oh, and also, how easy did your spur gear come off cos mine's an absolute tw#t to get off :-(

Yeah the lugs have twisted off, but in it's defence it did happen after a jump! My spur was a pig to remove at the beginning but I took some steel wool and 1200 grit wet n dry to the shaft.
 
Yea, I think everybody has done that at least once on a Baja. Get a Hostile gear set, don't land on throttle, and you will be okay, or you could always get the HPI Baja slipper clutch that I have heard a bit about.
 
yeah, upgrade to a stronger gear set. i've already got mine on order and keepin it to one side until the stock gears cock up, then fit the new ones! they're money pits aren't they lol..
 
my buddy just did the same thing to his KM! He does have a modded 30.5 so i guess that is not too bad. how does that 29cc run?
 
I've fitted a zenoah 29cc in mine, runs really well. Very punchy off the line! Even with the 683 carb it went well, it's got the new 813 walbro now, seems a little quicker again :-)
