hey guys, found a set off ebay of the 5T 1/5 scale general lee decals,

BV8j6QgCGkKGrHgoOKjEEjlLmZZQBKVFPbwnCg_12.webp

gonna get me a woodster standard body, and after researching the Lee's body color, its either a corvette flame red or a hemi orange.

i cant locate anything called that in lexan paint, so would the competition orange be suitable for lee's body color?

or what color off red in lexan paint?

this is gonna look slick but i want the closest color to it i can get in a lexan paint.

UPDATE::::: ordered the woodster body and a white rear spoiler from ebay. will paint spoiler the orangey color too.

bump for a hopeful reply as to what lexan paint i can use for body color. still thinkin of comp orange, cuz i don't theink i can find corvette red flame or hemi orange at the hobby store.

lan i beleave you can use automotive Lacquer based paint to paint the body i have done it be for just cant remember if it was straite lacquer or acrilyic lacquer paint but i did buy it at the auto parts store and it held up just fine

is ok, i ordered some comp orange pactra , 5 cans, since theyre only 3 oz cans, figured i might need that much, and if not, i got extra. and a can of black to back it after orange is shot.

sorry lan wish i:d have seen it before nowcould have saved you some cash.. ive been reading alot getting back up to speed on all things rc and more so on the 1/5 scale stuff

is ok, i have used pactra to do a few bodies and i like the paint, its easy to deal with covers well and durable. this will be the easiest paint job i ever done, i sometimes do a couple three colors, but this will be all comp orange.

even the spoiler i got iun white, i figured would take the color better. only thing that is a downer is the decals are for outside not inside. so this will end up being more a showoff body running round no offroading. unless i can figure out how to get the decals to stay on inside. then i'd be golden.

theres a few odd decals on that sheet i wont use so i might just test out a theory, using that pic glue for lexan i got, see if i can adhere the decals on underside with it.

:D cooool cant wait to see her all done up:cup-1:

not sure if the glue will do the job on that tho, the decals are vinyl and the pic glues mostly used with paper, like a pic ya cut out of a mag or comic book, etc...

just keep in mind the body WILL NOT be a charger. it will be a woodster.

will be simple to do really, one paint entire inside and decals on outside.

i seen a video of one someone else did, they left all this black areas all over it, i think it ruined the effect. mines gonna be ALL comp orange. with possible exception or rear stiffener, if i put that on, it will kinda look like rear end of the Lee, sorta, and i don't have a dodge front grille sticker yet so it wil be vois of that sticker till i get one.

this is the vid i said i saw, you can see how he left black areas on car, and it just doesn't look quite as good i think as having whole body orange like i plan on doing

yah i thot it was odd he painted it like that, if it was supposed to look more like Lee it should be orange allover tail fin too, which im gonna do.

need to see if i can get a dodge front grill decal tho. thnk it would look better if i had one, alli got on hand is another copy decal sheet of the KM decals, theres grill on it, but if it has a emblem in the middle it wont look right unless its a generic design and not a brand like bowtie, ford, etc...

well, i could prolly throw the corvette flame red or hemi orange on the lexan body but first flex of body it would crack chip flake, you name it. closest thing i can run with is Pactras competition orange. its prolly closer to the hemi orange as i will get till they actually make the hemi or vette flame red, in a lexan paint.

i think the roof flag might be a tiny bit small, but i have to remember the room on each side for G. Lee name, that actually looks to be bout right spaceing. the front to back length of flag might be a lil short tho.

will just have to see how it looks when ready to apply decals.
