I am trying to figure out how to mount my MT cable brakes onto my Marder clone buggy...

I want to make this setup work.

Work on here..

As you can see the front shock tower on the MT has a provision to mount the cable brakes and The Marder-clone does not, so I am wondering if the Marder has a front shock tower like my buggy (second pic) or more like the MT (first pic)

So if someone can snap a shot of their cable brake setup I would appreciate it..

Thanks,
Trip..

Its like the MT bud with provision for mounting the brakes

Well I figured I could make this work and it did... I have a different ft suspension than Dwarfy so his setup wouldn't help, so I came up with my own..

I needed a way to mount the support for the cable holder... So I came up with this, I believe is a rear lower A-Arm mount for an electric Rustler, it was a perfect fit...

As you can see it hugs the ft susp mount like it was made for it.

Then I attached the cable holder.

Now I need to drill out all this material, so I can run the brake lines through it.

After it was cut out, sorry about the satellite photo, the camera wouldn't Macro for poop.

Reattached and ran the cables through it.

Everything all adjusted and working properly, took almost 3 hours to get brakes equal on each side. I mounted my brace slightly off center so I could run the pull rod and one brake line through the same hole I created.

Line equal length and tucked away nicely.

I went with the brake arm pointing down, I may have to reverse these if I have contact with debris.. I mounted them this way because it was a straight shot for the cables, no tight bends.

All finished up with red calipers.

With this 200oz (15kg) 1/4 scale throttle servo, I have enough brakes to lock up the fronts on carpet. It has a liner feel that it never had before, it was either all brakes or no brakes. They were always locking up and the left wheel would drag and not release... I took my time installing them this time (5 hours total) I made sure it was right.

Thanks for the pics Dwarfy...

hey everyone ive just bought some cable brakes for my fg touring car trouble is how on earth do you mount them?? do you have to screw the brake calipers main part to the wheel hub? i notice there is little holes on the wheel hubs and brakes, otherwise the hubs just fall ooff or are to tight on the disks!!

yes the calilpers fix to the hubs where the 2 screw holes are. There are 2 No socket hd c/sink screws that fix through the ally block & into the hub. The brake lever plate (black plate in pic) then fixes over top with 2 No socket hd c/sink screws.

I had mine on a Hitec 645mg at 9.6kg torque and they worked fine. Recently changed to a Blue Bird 630mg with the same speed as the Hitec but 15kg of torque and it was a massive improvement. Yes its not 1 of the top brands but at £30 it was worth a shout & seems bang on for the money so far! If I get decent life out of it, it will have proved to be a bargain but if not Ive got the killer bee fitted just in case :D Excellent service from JE Spares too ;)

Definitely recommend fitting extra posts to the front of the std radio tray to stop flexing & ensure max pull on the brakes.

yikes:w00t: £30 for a servo Andy ....

i didnt know they where so inexpensive:lol::lol:

K....

did I say it was a blue bird.......I meant its a blue peter - its made from plasticine, bog roll tube and sticky back plastic :lol:
