I am thinking about adding another buggy to my stable but can't decide between gas or electric. I have a Baja that I use for bashing, and the Xb will be for racing only. Our track runs 1/5 gas and electric together. I am leaning toward electric since I already have a good charger and several lipos from other projects. Thoughts?

I think the only thing you will want to upgrade on the XBe is the electric motor eventually. But really, only you can make that call. Check out the other guys that own the Electric XB over on http://www.redcatrampageforum.com/ (I'm not trying to divert traffic from LSF over to RRF, but you'll get a lot more info on the XBe over there). Not too many that have them post over here too often.

my 2 cents would be to go with the gas one. you could take the motor out and sell it then convert it to electric. the xbe comes with a hobbyking motor and esc. i would get the gas and put the castle system in it. you should be able to get about $200 for the motor and clutch or keep it as a back up for the baja.

Thanks for the info. I didn't know it came with Hobby King stuff. I will definitely go with the gasser in that case.

The esc that comes with it is actually good, Hobbywing I believe. These have less problems than Castles. It's the motor that needs an upgrade.

You won't get $200 for the motor. Maybe $75 if you are lucky.

The gas should be in stock tomorrow or Friday. Electrics I have already.

$75? i've know'n a few guys thats put motors like that up for sale from doing converts and they all got around $200. must be alot of suckers out there then.

csp1971 you're right it is a hobbywing ezrun, i have that same one. but i have to disagree about being better then castle. i have 4 castle momba monster speed controls and the only time i've ever had a problem is when the one kinda went into the water, oops my bad. 1 was in my firehammer mt convert to electric and ran it fine without a problem. my hobbywing esc was in my 8th scale and it couldn't hack it. the new xerun series is better but that one in the xbe is the ezrun series.

I fried my Castle Mamba Monster on like the 6th run screwing around on a dry street. I guess some have luck with one kind, other's don't. Kinda the nature of electronics. I must have missed your Firehammer electric conversion, what size motor did you put on it? That's awesome!

HPI 26cc motors with clutch and air filters sell for $125 all the time on HBF. Now take a HY motor with no air filters, and see how much you get.

this is NOT hbf, if it was i am sure the majority of people here who have mentioned the word clone would have been banned by the admin nazi over there, with that said unfortunately (and i hate to do it) i have to agree, i don't think you will get 200.00, however i don't think you should take 75.00 either.

I think I'll stick with gas. The $200 saved vs the electric version will be better used for repairs and mods. I already have a spare modded 30cc laying around as a backup.

i bought my firehammer off a friend who already had it converted. the motor was from hobby king but it was a 6mm shaft blue case and 700kv. the motor works great but not the easiest to get 6mm pinions. i converted it back to gas cause i like my 5th scales gas not electric.

grow up? dude get a life, check out BA sometime and learn the truth about HBF. i merely spoke a FACT not fiction nor do i hide what i don't want people to see (which happens on HBF a LOT). so please take your own advice and grow up. as an example i give you a tidbit, kent (who owns killer rc was banned from HBF and to show you how petty the site admin is on hbf kents dad was banned from hbf with the reason given as to teh banning? "kent sr." no i am not joking.

What does any of this have to do with this thread? Oh that's right absolutely NOTHING.

Honestly no one here cares how HBF is ran nor do they care about BA. If you don't like HBF then don't go there - simple as that but don't bring your trash here.

Keep this thread on topic - thanks!
