Any one have the new dunerunner or the old one ? How do you like them compaired to the baja 5b ? I want to get one and was just wondering.

I've had a v3 for less than a year (June 2010) and I've hide multiple issues with the gears and driveline and bearings. I upgraded the 26cc it came with back then to a ESP Modified 27.2 +2mm stuffed crank and dropped the front drive line and it just doesn't hold up under the stress of bashing. I'm hopeful that the bugs will work themselves by going back to 4wd out but I think there are lighter, more durable buggy options out there even if they aren't 4wd.

I'm looking for 4 wheel drive. The new ones have steel gears and a 30cc motor. I was just wonderin if I should get it or not. Do you think they will be any better ?

I think it depends on your intended application. I'm a basher on hard texas dirt and it just abuses the dune runner. If I had a nice dirt flat track it would be easier on it. I am running the steel gear set (31/29/25/25) with a vented gearcase. The 30 cc motor it now comes with is a plus. You'll want to replace the stock servos straight away and install a good killswitch. I also replaced the worthless stock exhaust with a CPI Tuned Pipe. Add that up and I have 1000+ US bucks in it and it's mostly been in for repairs instead of playing..lol ;If I was going to get a 4WD for bashing I'd consider the new Redcat XT or the very solid MT v3. If it were for a track I'd get the new Redcat XB which will outrun a stock 5B on a track. Speed is also my thing, and while running stock my dune topped out at 33-35 MPH. I think the stock XB's are hitting 40+ MPH out of the box. (Not 100% certain on that one)

Check over at www.redcatrampageforum.com for a little more info on the large Redcat models. I have the V1 MT and the Redcat XB. I converted the MT to a TT and have beat it pretty good. The Redcat XB I haven't had a good opportunity to take it out longer than 45 minutes each time which in that time is about 2 tanks (I have about 6 through it, so far so good, very light weight and fast).
