hi, ive just purchased a mmr pro mx 30.5 cc engine for my marder.I thought it was pretty quick with my 2 bolt 29 and jetpro but this thing is a complete and utter beast!rated at 6.2 bhp with a top pipe, with 22/42 gears it pulls over 50mph,with the monster truck wheels it should be pulling 56mph +(for the big field high speed runs!)ok,thats the good stuff, now for the not so good stuff, the engines seem to be made with the hpi baja in mind,i had to change the clutch case so i could fit my large engine mount, but after i lined everything up,i noticed it didnt sit 100% perfect, the little aluminum brace that hold the back end(diff etc) to the engine is slightly out but will still go on so doest hold the engine in exacltly the right place, which isnt good when you consider the power the engine is producing meaning it is easier to rip the engine mounts apart which then is making the layshaft gears grind with the diff.this is the second engine i bought second hand in the last months, the first being a g23 oddified that i won on ebay but didnt get as it turned out to be an 8 year old engine which was advertised as being relatively new!(thanks for the heads up mike, ian oddy later confirmed your suspisions!).
Ive come to the conclusion that i need to buy an engine new!My first choice would be an oddified 26red top,ive heard nothing but good things about these engines, does anybody have any more suggestions?want the engine to be a high reving beast with plenty of power to pull high gears!

Make one

That part can be easily made. I don't have an original on either of mine. Depending on the gearing of the lay shaft it will need adjustment at that hole. My recommendation is to use a piece of thicker alloy or SS and make one like I did. The stock ones just round out at the hole anyway.

Just drill an extra hole in the brace so it will fit. It never did me any harm.
hi joester,i already thought of that one, like bigger/better said, the holes round off,it the same in my touring car too,the hole isnt a circle, its oblong so i would only need to redrill it 3mm across, the only place i could redrill would make the mounting of the brace sit even further out!cheers anyway.
