Been busy with the caustic soda de anodizing my chassis

Well i got sick of my baja having this horrible purple chassis so got busy with the caustic soda today and stripped it back to silver

took a few pics on the way so will start with
the before pics

so here is what i done it with notice the rubber gloves and the gogles

then time to strip magnetic bowl for the screw and pins

now to the caustic soda cant stress enough how dangerous this stuff is i used a trusty sainsburys box put the water and the chassis in first

now to get rubbered up

and add the caustic soda carefully and slowly

2 hours later time to take it out the bucket an put it back together after a good jet washing all the purple is gone yeah

and the finished item with most of my upgrades fitted just a few bit`s to come and should be done
new shock sock integy roof scoop & plug protector and the wheels are rovan`s

The finish on the purple chassis is sort of a satin rather than polished like the fg right?

Did the caustic soda affect the finish in any way?

yes mate is came out as a satin finish i could have polished it up to a nice shine but i like the way it looks as it is.

The chassis its self is already well used and scratched &scuffed so didnt feel the need to go over the top with it
