i had been tossing it around buying the real deal or a clone but i couldnt find a clone for the right price so i went a few towns over from mine to a rc store and ordered a hpi 2.0 baja. but i have a few questions i was reading on hpi's website and it said i would need a battery charger for the servo motor battery is this true? the guy at the store really didnt know much about the car other then what he had been told from others he said mine only made the 3rd that he had sold since 03 when he opened the store. he did say that they are a blast to run though. also my other question is i want to put some lights on it for some night time fun but how does that cut down my battery life on the servo battery or do you install a extra battery. sorry if these are stupid questions but im new to this stuff. and one more thing are these cars really that much bigger then the e-maxx car?

You will like the 5b they are alot of fun. That particular kit doesn't come with a receiver battery charger. If you don't have alot of other RC batteries that need charging you can get a charger for under $10. Or ask around someone here might have a spare wall charger for you. Or if you don't want to wait 12 hours to charge your battery there are several inexpensive chargers on the market.

To add lights the easiest way is to get a Killer Rc Light Controller. It gives you all kinds of options for adding lights and such. It will have an effect on the battery life but it's not substantial.

The baja's are great bashing cars but be prepared for repairs.
As for the lights ,I use four pods on one of mine with 15000 MCD(intensity) LED's and they really don't effect the battery(as long as you check your charge)as they only have a forward current of 20mA.

I got a 2.0 Baja just befor x mas and it came with a wall charger for the rx pack. The only things needed were 8 AA batteries and some gas. Oil to mix first batch was included. I have a T Maxx, and yea its bigger, alot bigger! It is a blast if you have the room to run it. Have fun!!

hopefully you get better quality with yours than i did mine (2K + over cost of baja and radio system and still haven't got a chance to get any actual run time out of it)

i guess before i put another k in mine i can sit on the shelf it actually kinda ticks me off tjat you give over a k for it and they don't come with a 8 buck charger acording to the website anyway

That's why I bought a KM it came with everything and it has been great plus it was only a little over $700.00... But I do have the Savage SS for many many many years now..

well i was goin to get a km but for what i was goin to have to pay for shipping to the states it wasnt worth it was goin to have almost the same price in the km as the hpi not exactly but with in a couple hundred and have to wait 2 weeks or more vs have it thursday or friday

just a question why you guy's buying the 2.0 rather than the ss?

the ss has a better spec then the 2.0 and there both kinda the same price?

HPI was having issuses with the SS kits.. I know a few that were missing parts in the kit.. And they had to waste more time getting HPI to send them the missing parts. The last SS Kit my buddy got here in Japan was missing the shocks and two A-Arms... I've been lucky with my kit I had all the pieces but that was for my Savage..

My reason for the 2.0 was that it has a lot of the SS up grade parts like the diff housing. The stock 26cc eng would have been up graded to the 28.5 cc race port head that I have already changed along with a dom pipe. Next is a stuffed stroker crank to make it 30cc. I think the 2.0 also has the SS shocks?? ANd I could drive it right away!!! lol Just how I looked at it.
