if its bog stock RTR platform the 1 absolute must is alloy engine mounts.

other recomendations (in my opinion) is doing the mesh mod on the crankcase, pull start filter, outerwears or TGN on the air filter for added protection. I run a steel spur on both my FG's and thing they are a very good upgrade.

brakes on std rtr are rubbish, recomend front cables but this isnt a must.

i am based in india and hav just ordered by baja 4wd, i want to know if there are any upgrades that i should order with the rtr.

I wouldn't bother with any "upgrades" other than ones that will improve the reliability such as steel gears, alloy engine mount (only the big one needed though) then start on you back end including wish bones, diff carrier, shock tower and rose joints.

Run it as it is til something breaks then upgrade. FG's are pretty durable even in std form so you wont have any major trouble. If its rtr just make sure everything is tight.

i purcahsed a FG baja 4WD RTR about 2 years ago (roughly, might be a bit less) and have run over 80 tanks through it, trust me when I say if your changing engine mounts to alloy, which in my opinion is an absolute must, why would you change the large and leave the small plastic?

I broke my plastic small engine mount 4 times before I upgraded both to alloy and haven't had a single issue with them since.

For the price of a small alloy engine mount its a no brainer.

Racing the marder and then the leopard race, it was a mod that was never needed because I've never broke one. 100% agree with the large engine mount/gear carrier and such though.

Ummmmmm No comment

I certainly believe they.

As for the small engine mount, for under $20 bucks when you already have the engine out why would anyone not install one?

if the plastic mount brakes, or the screws back out its goint to damage the layshaft gear and diff ring gear, way more expensive than the cost of a small alloy engine mount.

remember also the plastic threads on the plastic mount get flogged after a while, alloy ones can be re used many many times.

sorry to disagree with you mike but in the long term it just makes no sense to stick with a small plastic mount.
