If it's really 1/8 scale, then they're going to have a problem getting a motor powerful enough to match the HiPo nitro and BL LiPo rigs.

Definitely an interesting concept and will be keen to see more once announced.

I think they are just using the silhouette of a savage for the press release. I am subscribe to HPI US news letters and got a email about it today. I wish HPI would come out with a 4x4 1/5 scale!!!!!!!!!!!

I said the same thing on another forum but time will tell. There are many big block nitor engines that put out as much or more HP as a stock HPI baja engine.

I run an LRP ZR30 Spec2 in my Raminator - so modified it's barely even an LST2! Goes well!!
I do need to work on it once I find time when I get back to sunny UK.

plenty of smaller cc gasser motors in the plane areas so might find their way into one of these
 
what i think hpi is trying to do is start the revolution for nitro stuff. brushless/lipo took over a couple years back, and nitro has been waiting for what will put it back on top. i think gas engines in 1/8 and 1/10 scales is the ticket. they will still provide the realism and cool factor of a nitro, but with set and forget tuning like a large scale. i think if they can build a 1/8 scale gas truck that is as fast as a nitro it will be the new fuel powered revolution everyone is wanting
 
i cant wait!! im bored atm with hpi they need somthing new! and im also bored with the
baja products also we need new hop-ups, new ideas ect ect

i know the 5sc is new ish but its just a 5t with afew new bits added to it...
hpi need to make a new 5th!!

How about a Replica 1/5 Monster Jam Monster Truck.
Traxxas are 'cleaning up' re-using a very old - but very solid - '1/10' MT licenced for Monster Jam.
Imagine if a much more realistic, solid, 1/5 (really 1/5 as well!!) Monster Jam replica arrived!!! 1250mm long Grave Digger!!! NICE !!!!
It would need a rethink on suspension and very decent POWER!!

Take it for what it is worth but this is from another forum. A guy knows a guy that emailed them this that works for Hot Bodies. If some do not know Hot Bodies is a sister company to HPI.
[As of right now it is in R&d stages but HPI and Hot Bodies are looking at the 20cc Zenoah and working with CY to come up with a 20cc to 21cc]
 
Its great that hpi is doing this electric is so over rated is not realistic!
Traxxas is ok for now but if hpi keeps it up they will surpass them
I think if hpi wants to take the market they should get the truck out as asap then make anotherr or a car

Even thaw it could be we do not know if it is based off a Savage. Has KM ever built anything they did not clone off someone else?
