Quick question, i am looking for a relatively cheap headkit for the marder,at the moment it has a 28.5cc stock 2bolt head,obviously i would like a good improvement in overall performance over this setup.(also has a jetpro),its not bad but i want more.
I ve been looking into complete tuned engines for a different buggy i have so im not 100% clued up on the head kits! i don't know that many builders that make ported/tuned 2 bolts anymore,theres is the OBR 28.5cc heads on ebay,i think its a u.k stockist,they are around £100 and seem to have a desent amount of work done on them.Apart from the champion ported ddm heads and mmr heads,im lost!
any ideas ?

Is this a CY GP290 engine? The reason I ask is the CY GP290 has a 40mm where the cylinder goes it to the case where all others have 38mm. Unless it is the older version. You might want to check on this before you buy any top kit.

hi i had a 23cc zenoah( 28mm stroke 32mm piston) but i changed the zen head for a cy 28.5cc headkit,so i have a zen bottom end.now its still 28mm but 36mm piston,thanx...do you have any ideas?

do you have any ideas?

What type of driving do you do and what type of surface do you run on? Do you want to just stay with the 36mm bore or would you like to stroke it? OBR do some very good work and their customer service is excellent.

I have a race ported 30.5 kit I bought from OBR but do to the damn heat only have 3 tanks on it but cooler weather is right around the corner.

im doing the easy cheap thing then! ive seen the obr 28.5cc ported headkits on a site for around 100 quid,ill think i might try it,im not too bothered with 29.5 or 30.5cc,its a good medium between power and revability i guess, i run mostly grass,sometimes tarmac, i use tall gears(42/22) does around 50mph,alot of high speed stuff with the marder, just drag racing my mates.cheers

just buy mine hyper :lol::lol::lol:
that engine is probably full of stale river water now lol,and if i was to buy that ,you would get something better and more powerful,we cant have that lol,just kidding mate,ive got a stock motor at the moment,i want something that gives out more,ive had this set up for a whiile now,time to move on,cheers.

I do not see why a 29.5 or 30.5 would not be as reliable as the 28.5. I all so have a race ported 28.5 that I built but have not run it yet. I want to get a couple gallons on my 30.5 first. I am going to buy our build a 4 bolt but want to use the engines I have to help me deiced what I want. Sorry do not know what a 100 quid is in US dollars

i didnt say anything about reliability,i said 'good medium between power and revability' , £100 is probably around $140 ,i think? to be honest ,im not sure either.

So quid and British pounds are the same? If so 100 GBP= $164.06 US. I know you live across the big pond but OBR sells race ported 2 bolt 28.5 kits for $105 US or 64 GBP.

funny you say that,lasy night i was checking the headkits out on OBR site lol, for around $200 u.s, he has a reedported 28.5 head kit,seems to have more work on them,seems the race ported head is more basic,what this reed ported head like mate?cheers

Are you talking about the reed kit with the OBR cylinder reed block set up? I know very little about reed engines other then what I have found out from others. I did some research on them as I am interested in building one some day. I was told the Bartolone Racing Cylinder Reed Block was better then the OBR block and best set up is case reed with something like TS cases.

Here is a video of a 29.5 Bolt on Reed Engine from Bartolone Racing.
