Hi guys, im not really clued up on servos and would like some advice, i have just brought a hormann tk09 which has a hitec 5755 1/4 scale servo for steering , and an Ace ds1015 for the throttle/brake. As i have a few largescale cars now so i can swap servos,I want the best one in the tk,im happy with reviews on the ace 1015 but was thinking of swapping the hitec for one of my multiplex rhinos, i think both of them are rated at around 25kg on 6 volts(correct me if im wrong) I know the rhino is a bit more expensive, but what are the main differences, and which is most reliable? also i have seen a futaba 4pks for with reciever brand new for around 320 quid ,overseas,is that a good price ,maybe a bit overkill for bashing, but maybe in the future i would like yto get into racing. Also what would be a good price to pay for a 2nd hand futaba 3pks with reciever in good working condition? thankyou.

I think there aren't many differences, the Rhino isn't protected for high voltage peaks, if you use a fast charger and no volt limiter it's possible to burnout inside.
I use a rhino now with fast charger and no limiter (no place in the elektronic box), but i charge my batteries a day before i drive the car so it doesn't have high voltage peaks ;)

It still sounds stupid, and I only have Rhinos, but you pay more, and get less!!
You get a 'free' servo horn with the 5755.
Some say the 5755 is a 'waterproofed Rhino', but if you pull a Rhino apart, you couldn't insert more O-rings if you tried!!
I like the colour!!
I use an LRP 5Ah LiPo battery with a voltage stabiliser.

kent (killer rc) did a side by side comparison (at least i think it was kent LOL) and the guts are identical. you could take the guts out of one case and put them in the other. the rhino is discontinued and has been replaced by the hitec one (although there is really no replacement since they are the same thing in different wrappers. another thing to not is hitec and multiplex are the same company ;)

here i found the topic on killerrc's forums ;)

http://www.killerrc.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=63

the servos are exactly the same only differing in case color. so with that said i could take my hitec servos guts and put them in a rhino case and have/sell it as a rhino (of course with the way peopel want a rhino over a hitec i could probably make some major money stuffing hitec guts in rhino cases and charging a premium :lol:)

I run the Team Associated DS1015 servo for my brake throttle servo which is made by ACE for Team Associated same thing as the ACE DS1015. It is a good servo but depending on your brake set up might not have enough torque. Works fine in my HPI 5b SS but if it ever fails I am going to get a servo with more torque. I have run these servos all so in my 1/8 scale RC vehicles and they have never failed me yet.

If they are the same how come on the specifications The Rhino is faster then the Hitec?

only thing that could possibly be different is the motor itself although i seriously doubt it. i will say that if i had 2 servos that were teh same and iwanted to get more more (what every company does these days) i would put one in a different color case, say it had better specs than the other, adn charge more for it ;) in all honesty ever think that something gets crossed in the conversion of metric to standard?

I thought when it came to speed they are all measured the same not metric or standard it is all in seconds which is standard all over the world. The Rhino has a faster speed and been on the market a whole lot longer then the Hitec 5755. I am not a big fan of Hitec as I have had issues with some of there servos. I run the Rhino and it has been very good to me. I do hate they do not import them in the US any more but no matter as I have a new spare.

don't know but if you look at the link i posted to killer rc's website you will see that the only possible difference (other than case) would be the motor you can clearly see in the pics in that post that the circuit boards are teh same gears are same, and the case is same except color, and i would bet that the motors are the same as well ;)

I looked at the link you posted and maybe the are the same other then color of the case but all it takes is to change on little chip on a board to make a big difference. Is Hitec and multiplex owned by the same company now?

well, i got rid of the multiplex, keeping hitec as a spare and got myself a brand new tonegawa 050 servo, it has more power then the rhino and hitec put together, plus some....but it does have its own power supply, meaning 2 batteries, one in each pod but im not risking running them off one battery(although some people do)
It is huge in comparison, but have just got a tonegawa servo plate for the hormann.with a ace 1015 for throttle and brake and a futaba 4pk, i think im finallygetting there! in the future i will get some front brakes, maybe hydros, then i will work out how i will set it up.

How much bigger physically is it then the Rhino? What is the speed of that servo? I run the Team Associated DS1015 as throttle and brake which is made by ACE for Associated. Very good servo.
