Kreb,
You have NOOOO idea what I can or can't afford. I choose to use Oddified engines because I believe they're the best available in all areas and are far better than any of the alleged "race tuned engines" imported from the U.S. Oddified aren't the most expensive or when used with a proper pipe they aren't the loudest - this being the main reason some of you half wits choose onb, ts, jetpro or any other loud non performing hunk of bling.

FYI I have both the cash and the dash as you put it.

Curios how many OBR engines have you tired? Is this based on fact or opinion?

It's based on the fact that after many emails to and from Sean asking obr to tune a 4 bolt 26cc engine with good fuel economy, 6.5hp+ and smooth power throughout the range, they decided not to because - they said, "we couldn't do one for what you require" They're a basher engine tuner.

I've still no idea why people in the UK are getting A. TS (or others) engines when there is no real race pedigree in the RC world and there is no back up in the UK, B. why people are getting and engine that needs modds to the car to fit it, C. I still have no idea why people would buy an engine that allegedly has enough power to damage their car rather than smooth power & reliability where it's needed.

Some people are bashers some are racers some art top end freaks and others are HP freaks. It all boils down to what you want and enjoy. The main reason at least for me, I am in this hobby is for fun and what ever floats your boat is fine with me. Who has the right to tell others where their fun lies? I do agree that when racing a all out overly powered engine is not the best or from my limited racing experience.

So your only opinion is they do not make race engines and their for are not good at what they do? I know many racing their engines but most are in classes where there is not a size limit. Next time I talk to Sean I will ask him about this.

I am sorry to say here in the states large scale racing is not as big as over seas but is slowly growing and the biggest market is bashers. So if you where the OBR what market would you cater to? ;)

I am sure with all the testing and tuning OBR does they could build a very good race engine like you are talking about but just not feasible just to build one engine for you. I am sure if the demand was there they could and would.

I'm not telling anyone what they should or shouldn't use - I just don't understand why some people use loud pipes and well over the top engines when they serve not purpose or give any advantage to the car/driver. A standard engine and pipe would give bashers enough of what they need to make their car go well if cars/engines were set up well enough - you only need to read some of the posts on here to realise that.
I race, I use racing parts. I offered to run an obr engine to get them into the racing scene in the UK because that is the only way a racer would pick a product from a company thats not known for racing.

That's actually a very good idea.

'By total coincidence' I've finally received an e-mail stating that I was mixed up with another client and new deliveries will be received soon.

I always try to think well of people, but if I've been seriously pi$$ed off by someone, my reaction may not be so well mannered!! Normal really.

I like the idea of the black-listing on the credit card creditors, and perhaps it was someone whispering in his ear that this may happen if he continues this way ....
Don't know.

Thing is, it's to fit the Redrace electronic ignition onto a Trevor Simpson 28.5 2-bolt full mod reed engine, with inlet for nitrous injection ....
This motor if set-up properly (no nitrous for me at least to start with!!) will seriously shred tyres (and stuff clutches .... :D:D)
I have read that modifications are required to fit it, but I cannot find just what is required - major or minor.

Al.

Glade they got back to you and hope it all works out.

Quite so but halfwits like Kreb should engage their brain before opening the hole under their nose.

wow did you think that up all by yourself? halfwit.....lol. someone jokes around abit and you start calling names like my kids. well don't worry i'm more mature then that. have a smoke and a pancake and relax.

this thread is so funny, i was reading somethiong that a well known british engine tuner said a bit of time ago on a forum, basically he said people will say that the best engine is the one that they have ! lol, which seems to be true after reading the same sort of debate many times!, in my opinion a basher engine is better for bashing, plenty brute force, torque, a thick wall of power in lumps,no need for smooth power as you can drive where you want to,u don't have to take tight bend after tight bend! any exhaust as it doesn't need to fit under the shell like a racer car,it doesn't have to be super economical to last a 30 min race, uncompromised!
a race engine is better for racing and will piss all over a basher engine on a track!,ported for super smooth power to get power down cleanly, economical enough to finish a race and reliable enough to finish a race , thats why i want a oneill brothers full mod for my marder and an oddified for my hormann! both totally different applications that why i don't know why they are compared all the time(even by me in the past!) like saying football boots are better then basket ball trainers? but for what? they are both better for what they are used for! (sorry for the poop comparison) i think in this day and age most well known experienced engine tuners have great products for ones application that it is made for.

OBR race ported and Prostock motors are much better suited for racing and are much smother through the RPM range. All so what exhaust you run will affect how smooth your RPM ranges is. This is one of the many reasons I run the CPI.

Now their full mod and full mod long rods are built for all out HP. I have talked to those at OBR quite a few times and they will tell you that the FM or FM LR are not the best for track use but are made for all out HP junkies. LOL

Like I always say run what ever makes you happy and if you are having fun that is all the matters. There are very few people in RC racing that make a living at it so have fun.

yes, i have standard engines in my cars at the moment(again) but they have different pipes,my marder has a jetpro v2 unsilenced and my hormann has the hormann track pipe(not the best track pipe, but still a track pipe) i can see how both effect the way the engine gives out power in different ways, my marder with jetpro pisses all over the hormann when bashing and straight line speed racing(drag) has alot more mid/top end power and gives the marder power to use tall ratios, but when i get the cones out and make a course, the hormann pisses on that as it has instant power thru from bottom end to top at an even consistant rate ,so from out of a corner it will leave the marder ,and usually there isnt a long enough straight for it to catch up,if the marder was to catch up then it still may not overtake as the next corner is there again.both different pipes for different applications once again. back to the engine debate ,i could ask what has the best engine, a nascar or a rally car ?????? totally different engines, the nascar will constantly sit at 200mph and the rally will accelerate between 60mph to 140/150mph, constantly braking and accelerating, so which has the best engine? of course they both have the best engines for what they use them for.

To finish the original thread topic, I remained in contact with Pitstop and was being told that 'sorry, payment was received, .... mixed with another customer, more are coming ... '
I even was told 'I've received 10 kits and have more coming first thing next week, and will send one out' ...
I then re-read the same message and compared to my story ..
I'VE BEEN WAITING 6 MONTHS AFTER PAYING OUT £166 AND HE SAYS HE'S SENT KITS OUT TO OTHER PEOPLE - IGNORING ME !!!

Basically it was obviously a scam to delay me and keep my money, so I reclaimed and have received the money back from the credit company immediately.

I don't like being BS like that - I've used them before, but will NEVER use them again!!!
Happy and SAD ending.

Al.

Sounds like you are a bad ass racer! I bet if OBR knew who you were they'd piss theirselves for not sponsoring you! How many racers would've bought their engine after seeing it in your car? No one knows for sure but OBR would probably have to open a European division just to meet demand.
