i got a t1000 from Dan off ebay, only issue i had was i had to replace the PS after 2nd tank it borked, got one with a collar round the pawl and no issues since. money saved buyin the T1000 can go towards upgrades on it that HPI doesn't have stock. so far i seen most all hpi and aftermarket stuff for hpi will fit T1000. so yah truck is worth it, specially if you are like i was and couldnt afford the hpi outright. getting the T1000 will allow you to get out there and run it for less, and upgrade as money permits.

Get the t1000! It's a steal! Then get the Turtle Racing clutch system, Killer limiting straps, outerwears, and you'll be set!

How is the truck? does it hold up? how is the engine quality?
also are the parts compatible with hpi I just don't want to buy a piece of junk.

I researched for about a year, and the only difference between the HPI and the KM car that I could find is the price! Before even starting my car, I bought a bunch of parts for the HPI off of ebay and installed them on my KM t1000, and they all fit perfectly. The motor seems fine to me. It has a LOT of power! Again, I've lurked on the Hpi forums for a year, and they have the same short comings as the KM brand. Everyone universally agrees that the stock plastic clutch carrier is crap! And the Turtle Racing enclosed system is the best fix for it. A friend of mine got the Baja 5T, and I just couldn't run my Nitro car anymore! I got mine from ebay. Heat hobby, I believe. Danlc4 is another great ebay'er, but I don't think he has any t1000's right now.

wow sounds alot like my situation I have been on a lot of hpi forums as well I have just sold all my nitro trucks because I was tired of starting, and tunning issues. Anyway any problems with your truck at all ?also was it lubricated ? and did it have oil in the shock reservoirs?

which one is faster t1000 or hpi 5t? sorry for all the questions its just that I want a good quality truck I have called a bunch of Hobby shops and they said to stay away from clones that they "break easilly"

I went through everything before I even started it. All the fluids were good. But I change the diff to 10,000 wt silicone to give it more of a posi. I also changed the shock oil to silicone. I had to drill 3 small holes in the rear shock pistons. The original holes were too small for silicone oil. There was 1 bolt and 2 nuts missing on a rear wheel hub. And the steering swing set would rub the frame at full turn. Hpi's do that too. Had to grind the frame to fix it. The t1000 is faster stock, because it has a bigger motor and a tuned pipe! I also reversed my clutch shoes. They're supposed to last a lot longer.

wow it sounds like you know alot about R/C trucks I am just getting into 5th scale so alot of what you just said didnt make sense to me but im sure it will when i get one did you like your friends hpi 5t did he have any problems with his thats the whole reason i got out of nitro because it was a pain in the neck running them I just want a good truck that i can take up to the park from my house and run it around the field and jump some hills without any problems. i especially like the truck body look thats why I like the 5t or t1000 I don't like the lookof the buggy.

do you own an Hpi? I want one but Ive seen that they have a stock
26cc engine where as the t1000 has a stock 30.5 cc engine. so im assuming its faster Ive seen plenty of videos on you tube and the t1000 hauls some serious a$$

my T1000 came with a 29cc engine. on the used thing, i wouldnt unless i knew the person and how it was treated. the T1000 is cheap nuff to just buy ouright over the HPI. and as said above the parts interchange. i got mine from Dan off ebay. nice guy and stood behind the truck i got .

buying used is in most cases, buying someone elses headache... notice i said in most cases. not ALL cases... i just rather start wit a clean slate... i bought a rovan buggy off of dan and could not be happier... i could not afford the hpi one. well i could, but then could not afford the gas to go in it.. lol so i made a choice and am pleased wit my choice...
