Hi there.
Does anyone know the correct front bumper/foam combination, or an alternative that will fit perfectly?
As mentioned in another thread, I've recently bought a 'new' F360 shell - the next stage is mounting it properly and making it look right.
I know it's a discontinued body, but parts are out there - I just need to know which ones!!

Thanks,
Al.

Al just get the blank as mike found....and then its just a simple job to cut

and finish it:D so it looks like this;)....i used an angle grinder and rough

Thats a cool looking car Trebor nice job, Makes me want an onroad car now  what brand should i get if i do?

Sorry Al Im :off-topic:

Thanks Mike and Keith.

Thing is, I believe the correct bumper/mount for the foam acted as a 'splitter' and extended beneath the front of the body, whilst still permitting the mounting of the front clip mounts.

I see that the 911, New Beetle and Merc front mounts are larger and rounded, which may work - that's what I'm after.

With the option indicated Mike, it looks like I'll have vertical front body mounts aka MT or even Tamiya / 1/10 HPI on-road, and not the front as per the McLaren, which is what I'm after.
Any thoughts?

I've no worries with cutting that 'though doubt I'll end up with Keith-style finish, but I'll have a good try.

Thanks,
Al.

That's right Mike - I was looking at that as well.
Not sure of the dimensions - spacing.
I posed the question to Hobbythek, and this is their reply:

Dear Alan,
the best choice is to use a Foam Bumper, that protect the shell and hold it in position without any Body mounts in front.

Best regards
have a nice weekend

I like the idea of the underbody splitter - would also take the scrapes instead of the body ... but they don't move around that much.
Without location, it means more load on the sides.
Al.

I never use body clips on the side anyway, I just use velcro on side pods or carbon side gaurds of my touring car & truck, if this isn't for a shelf queen you'd be far better using posts through the bonnet as the small blade and foam will protect things better than the large splitter type blade you're looking at.

Hi Mike, I hear what you're saying, and of course it makes sense, but .... it won't be shelf queen, but I want it to last, and really am against drilling the top unless I have to.
You're meeting the guys who're moving things on.
In 1/10, there's a mounting system with velcro as you mention, with the traditional 1/10 4-post system, but without drilling any holes - solely by velcro.
Given me an idea now!!
Splitter or not - good question!
I could get the mounting posts, cut them down, cover with a pivoting plastic 'plate' with velcro ..... I feel a project coming on!!
Al.

on my semi the body posts go through the foam and out the body

Hi Pip, do you mean out at the front?
This is what I'm after, but I cannot identify a bumper/foam mount that is the right dimension.
Don't know how old it is, but has anyone any 'old' bumper mount instructions that identify the part number for the F360 bumper?
The 8418 identified by Mike is definitely the 'default' foam, and easy to change and modify, but is much too short for the F360 if I want to consider the 7011 front mount points.
I was thinking of an overlapping post for the vertical mount, using rod and tube, drilling holes with the Dremel for adjustment, with a plate over the top with velcro on - it's only for location and some support, so should work.

PS Saw my DREAM PT Cruiser right here in Manzanillo the other evening, on the way back to the Hotel from the lab; a PINK STRETCH LIMO !!
Looked OK actually. If I see it again, I'll try and grab a couple of photos.

It does look very straight, or slightly toe-in.

I reckon I've 'found' my 'new' F360.

Look at my purchase, including centre mount hole - so much for not wanting any drill holes!! and raised Ferrari sticker at the front - above missing corsa sticker .... who cares. It looks good and for that price, it wasn't bad.

A couple of stickers are missing, and the windows are blacked out, for a reason I'll find out when I get back to UK .....

Unless this was a standard sticker set, and mine is one of many .....

Anyone know which model had the centre front body mount?

Al.

Back to PLAN A !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Inspector Al has finally found it!!
Obviously the copywright rights limit any mention by official representatives of FG Modellsport, so they either didn't know or weren't able to mention.

The mount I was after, according to the archive plans I've managed to locate thanks to my mate Google is the Opel/Vauxhall Calibra bumper, 8120/01.
This is used in conjunction with 7011 lower front mounts - same as the Mclaren. I bought a couple extra for spare.

From above, 'my body' obviously isn't new, and has one hole for the centre mount at the top - I'll live with that.
IF it is the same body, I may be able to remove the black contrast window stickers, which should reveal the clear plastic, unless they're hiding some 'recent disasters'.
I feel quite good about that, so let's see in a few weeks ....

well the pic with plastic arms is from about 2 yrs ago so hard to remember what was happening there. I run my setup as straight as possible to save tire wear cuz these tires are expensive (there's a redcat keychain in the pic, think when I last owned a redcat ;) )
