I wasn`t sure whether to start this thread here or in the Body section, but i decided i might get more joy starting it in the `core` interest group!

Now that i`m quite happy with the car and its driving, I want to change the Body. Whilst i intend to start racing and will therefore want quite a good shell for doing that, i want something i can just throw on for fun. The Honda body that came with the car is ok but a bit battered. Plus, i`m quite anal, so i`d like a shell that reflects the `drive type` of the car.... i.e RWD.

I initially wanted the old BMW 320 STW shell which Hobbythek still have for sale, but i cant find the decals for love nor money so I`d have to get handy with the airbrush..

Just wondered if any of you guys have any other shells, be they old style that you use more for bashing and not so much a focus on `aero`for racing..
Or of course... shelf queens.:)

I`m looking for inspiration, so just keen to see if anyone has any pics :)

here is a pic of my alfa

its an older alfa body, has efra 97 moulded into the decklid, guess that means it was built to conform with 1997 rules. ive had it a couple years, the decals were so old they didnt stick, had no trim lines. was actually one of the worst bodies ive ever had to work with in my almost 11 years of r/c. the newer ones are nicer though.

i myself like the newer DTM style bodies, like the audi a4 dtm and opel astra dtm. id love to have the wide porsche gt1 shell, it looks wicked.

just keep in mind if you want to run 2 different bodies that it isnt always as easy as taking one off and tossing another on. there are quite a few different lengths of side body posts to fit different width bodies, same with different rear posts, and different bumpers, along with different wheel hexes to accomodate different widths. unless you want to change all that stuff back and forth, your choices between race body and bashing body could be very limited.

Yeah, to be honest i have spent quite a lot of time looking at the parts list etc and working out what is required such as side posts.
The Audi a4 dtm actually uses the same mounts as the Accord which is quite handy. I do really like the `Albers` livery (mainly as love orange lol) but i would have to go for the Painted version as i don't think i could pull that scheme off myself.
The Bmws, either with the 320si or the older Stw use the same side mounts, so i could get away with having PERHAPS those two without too much trouble....

Still thats a lot of wonga....

I like the Alfa, and from what i have read on here they seem to be preferred over the Bmw... which is the one i would have to be honest..

Is that more an aero thing?

Sharkey,
Nice looking car! I also have this model and was wondering how you put the front bumper on? It came seperate from the body when I got it. Call me stupid but I can't get a good fit and don't feel like ruining a $200 body on experimenting. Any help is appreciated!

unfortunately this body doesn't look nearly as good anymore. a couple years of driving the hell out of this car took its toll.

this body is a one piece, no bolt on bumper. i believe the fg alfa 156 has a bolt on bumper, mine isnt an fg.

Thanks for posting up those pics :)

That track looks awesome. Seen a few videos on youtube.
It seems either the Bmw or the Alfa are the ones to have.

I am torn between getting the newer 320si, or the older 320STW. I am aware that the old bmw has the aero properties of a brick, but i love the old skool looks. Plus I can paint it up in the `Jaegermeister` livery from the STW 1998.(attached)

The biggest pain is the old Bmw uses the same mounts, but is based on a narrower track. Only realised this after checking through the parts sheet....:(

I have found the the Frank Killam E46 shell fits the car as it is now with the Honda mounts etc...

Anyone got any pics of this one that they`ve painted/used http://rc-car-online-shop.de/shop/e...dy-shell-by-killam-unpainted-y0020-1pce-.html

ha... i too love the CSL!

That would also look good in the jaeger livery too.

However, i decided in the end to get the Bmw wtcc as I need a car shell i can race with. The Bmw or the Alfa seem to be the one that people go for.
I went for a livery with a classic twist....:)

Nice job with the paint.
Personally, if going for a Beemer, I'd have gone for the Batmobile!!

Quite a few options on the market now.
I'd love to see a Mk.II Escort flat front - that would be nice, as they're still cleaning up on the historic rallies.

Al.
