Ive got a 26cc zenoah in my marder and always used venom racing oil so want to stick with the brand
However i have always used the gold botttle with no problems, when buying a new bottle from my local shop i was told that if im quite hard on my car i should use the competition silver bottle.
I don't race i just bash so speed is not the end of the world, should i stick to gold or use silver?

The gold bottle is castor oil, the competition oil in the silver bottle is semi-synthetic and the competition max also in a silver bottle is fully synthetic.

Personally I would stick with the gold. I have used it for 4 years with no problems as have my mates but having said that we are closer to Ross mods than any branch of halfords etc so makes sense for us! If you are thinking of changing, I would get a fully synthetic oil that is readily available from a local motor store rather than paying model shop prices. Some say it is essential to strip the motor down and clean out any residue of the old oil & degrease to ensure the new oil does not react to the additives in the old oil and leave spots of the engine un-lubricated. How true this is Im not sure!!

From what I have read in the past, the best time to change oil would be when you do some engine work like a re-ring or new head then you can clean it down at the same time.

If I were changing oil tho I would probably just say feck it & start using a new oil without any cleaning, tank flushing or anything.......cant see it making that much difference to the life of my engine........cue abuse from the techies :lol:

the gold and the silver do not mix:p

it would probably gum up your engine using the silver without first

cleaning the carbon build up from the gold.....stick to the gold its cheaper:lol:

K....

the on road ive just brought came with some venom oil gold bottle so i usume its been run on that, but i only use putoline mx5 and i just filled car up and ran it,was i bit smokey compared to the 23cc oddie from the bug,i didnt think about it being castor based im sure after a few tanks it will be ok

hi buddy, did you recieve the gear?
anyway i went from one bottle to the other as my lhs change it.i started with king cobra rock mineraral oil then went to the sythetic stuff.i read what i was supposed to have done, cleaning wise but i just let the petrol run out and started next tank with the other oil.that was around 5 months ago and my marder has gotten better since lol. since then ive had the head off and its fine but i wouldnt advise doing that.
i now have brought a bottle of castrol a 747 because of the good things i have herard from it, i think they are both semi synth(correct me if im wrong) i was going to take the sparky out,put some neat fuel in,turn it over by hand a few times a hope that is ok.the engine has only done 5/6 tanks at the most,so should be clean inside anyway.
