Question.. What can cause a cracked head ? Impact ?
Or can it crack at any time ?

most of the cracked heads i have seen is due to impact landing on them, due to the roll cage failed,or it was not on, and or the curb or what ever impacts it got lucky and made it thru the cage nailed it head on(pun intended),
the other type of cracking is due to something in the engine, say the con rod failed,or a rock, nut or bolt gets sucked in and the piston jams it,
that might be the case here the con rod failed and jams the piston into the head, wont know until he pulls the engine apart

+1 to Joe, it must have taken an impact. When the head cooled maybe the crack widened. You probably had a loss of compression and didn't realize it. I would take him up on his generous offer. Don't give up on KMs just yet, chaulk it up as a freak accident.

Haha...I'm telling you, there was 0 impact. That truck was babied beyond belief. I literally never even jumped it. It rolled probably going 10 MPH, but it rolled on its side...there was no cart wheel action. I'll probably take the head off tomorrow to see if there was any more damage. Hopefully I can just replace that and be done with it.

By the way, where can I get a new head only?? Looked on eBay and everything was sold as a rebuild kit/stroker etc

Thanks again to everyone that has taken the time to read and respond to my original post.

DDM, has them but they are not cheap there, wait and see you may need the whole head kit if the conrod or anything in the engine is jacked
