Just got new tx and rx today for my Carson c5, while trying to get it to bind connected up power and bind plug turned on and the receiver poped smoke come out and it's melted a hole in the back! I'm gutted, was hoping to get it out this weekend after having trouble with old transmitter and battery last week, have a done something wrong or is it just a dud rx???

i just bought a GT3b with 2 receivers and all good for m mate

where did you plug the bind plug ?

I think so, the connector would only fit one way when the bind plug was in, with the metal connectors facing away from the other plugs, in the + & - points depicted on the rx and in the same direction as the others.

Sound right to u??

well on some plugs don't have the spline on it which make it easy to plug the wrong way although the shape of the plug should help when plugging into a receiver i just make sure the black is nearest the edge to the plug inputs
 
Yeah I'm sure it was right, I did contemplate for a minute that the + - could have got mixed up or the conection on the rx was opposite to the old rx, I don't think that was the case though. Iv emailed the seller sO wait and see what he says about it.

ebay purchase ?
 
For rx and tx together. He's saying he tested it before sending but it was just in a box with Chinese import stickers on it. Don't know if I should just buy new receiver or open a case with eBay? What u think?
 
Yeah, that it's imported, probly comes from same place that yours did... But without packaging. He's refunding me For the rx and il buy a new one myself.

i would open case mate as not your fault due to dud item then buy another for £10 posted ..SORTED :)

Don't forget that without power by-pass, the Rx is supplied directly from the battery, and then it sends the signal and power to the servos.

If you have higher power servos, and also haven't set the end-points correctly, you might be over-powering the servos, which draw power through the Rx ..... thus ..... perhaps this is one of the problems?

The power by-pass is only really necessary if you want maximum power to the servos and have installed high-power servos as well.

What's the limit? Need to study power demands of the servos and what the Rx can supply.

Cheers mate, new one is ordered and old one is in the post... Still don't get to take the car out this weekend... Never mind iv got a new heli, trex 450 with dx6i tx, il take that for a spin instead lol

My car has standard servos and plus I never even got the rx to bind.
 
Bear in mind this is a bloke writing to another bloke .... !!!! :D:lol::D

There's bound - excuse the unintended pun! - to be something you're overlooking.
