I have a short exhaust on old Kyosho 1/5 (see below picture). Is there any pros and cons of the exhaust pipe is short or long. I have also attached below a picture with a longer exhaust pipe

I read somewhere that the length of the stinger does have an effect on performance but cant remember where I read it. Was browsing the net at random poop and started looking at the the technical side of tuned pipes!!

If you refering to a header on a tuned pipe...
The longer the header the more torque, the shorter the header, the more RPMs.
If your talking about a stock can and adding a shorter or longer stinger, it wont make much noticeable difference either way.

Is the header being refered to here the "x-can" or what ever they call them? Bought my baja used and has one on ir with HPI's aftermarket aluminum tuned pipe so what kind of difference does it actually make? More revs mean more top end and with this 28.5cc there is almost too much torque!

you have there a standard can .....waste of time:rolleyes:

this is an "X" can http://www.wheelspinmodels.co.uk/i/20620/

the header is the pipe fixed from the engine to the tuned pipe;)

what your asking is will i gain in changing to what you calling a long pipe,

which is a tuned pipe....normally on a standard engine a tuned pipe will add

around 1 bhp

please add your location in your user CP....it does help:p

so do you have the square can or the ss pipe which came with a baja ss.
theres alot that goes into building/designing a pipe, some give more power and revs than others.you got a picture of the alloy pipe you got?
the header is the manifold, stinger is the tail. every part of a pipe is important in regard' to how the pipe performs. the manifold,converging/diverging cone(espansion chamer) the angle of both these cones , width and length diameter ,volume of these bits, the stinger lentgh, and very important from what ive read is the distance fron the end of the header or front of the piston to the converging cone.
there is so much stuff on 2 stroke engines and pipes on the net.
victory made to pro pipe in conjuction with OBRs fullmods ported engines to get even more effect, the timing of gases and waves in the pipe insnyc to the piston movement ,( when piston uncovers exhaust port intime for waves to reenter cylinder), they call it the supercharge effect.like i said its on the net.

OP: id pick the long pipe( tuned) over the short(stock can) anyday, try both and see what the difference is like
