Just would like to no as ive been doing my driving lessons and
its coming to the stage "What car do i buy" and i like hondas.

Also why do people hate them ? I rekon there nice looking
cars if you look after them without putting stupid body kits
etc on them but ive been looking at some forsale and found
one with a Stock H22 DOHC VTEC 2.2 L 197 hp engine...
No i wont be getting that but its cool that you can swap
the engine for a more powerful one!

Anyhow a tage off topic.. So are hondas reliable cars ?

Nothing new like.. More like a 1995-2000 Civic EG Coupe
or Hatchback..

My advice would be don't rush into it because there are alot of nice vehicles out there to choose from ;)

+5000 Troy!!

There are loads of NICE vehicles, loads of DOGS as well.

Mine's less than 5 years old and had it from new.

I bought it - 'triangular' Civic 5-door hatch - diesel (130mph and 0-60 in 8.7 apparently as well as 50mpg!!) - for style (very different), build (solid), quality, and reputation (I don't hope it'll be reliable, like when buying a Ford or Vauxhall, I EXPECT it to be reliable).
Bottom line.
Looks great, very practical, relatively economical - all necessary factors - and totally reliable.

If you're going for a 15 year old car, then be very careful - it's still possible to find a good'un and it'll be great, but after that time, there's been plenty of time for somebody to have fitted an aftermarket turbo, without changing the compression ratio, blowing the odd gasket somewhere, etc. .....
Is it straight?
Are the bearings fine?
How's the transmission?
Are the brakes up to it?
Are the shocks still strongly mounted or about to be pushed straight through on the the first bump?

Basically the heart often rules, but keep it on it's reins for a bit!!

Also if you can buy a new car that comes with a warranty that would be my first choice,
but if thats not the case and you have to buy used ,
well make sure it has a up to date service history whatever model make you buy

Well the best advice I would say is buy new! You can finance a decent car and with a good few dealers they will give you the first years insurance free which after the first year you will probably get 60% off and thats sa poop load for a driver in the UK UNDER 25.

How about rent ? A guy over the road said he rents his
car for 3 years then they give him a choice... Ither buy
it from them after the 3 years or he can have another
one for 3 years.
 
Check out the terms:
1. Condition of vehicle.
2. Wear - tyres, etc - you pay?
3. Servicing?
4. Value at end?
5. Discount relative to 'outsider' on ongoing / replacement rental?

Neighbour or not, he won't be doing this for charity!!

if i was just passing my test and with insurance prices the way they are now id just get the cheapest car i could to lower the insurance keep your nose clean no crashes or points for a couple of years get some ncb then you can get something quick and fun

Thats what my mates said! Go get a 1.0 L and drive it for afew years then go buy
sumthing nice.
 
Andy walks into a Honda dealership in Liverpool. He browses around, spots the Top-of-the-line Honda Accord and walks over to inspect it. As he bends over to feel the fine leather upholstery,he inadvertently breaks Wind. Very embarrassed, he looks around nervously to see if anyone has noticed his little accident and prays that a sales person doesn't pop up right now. As he turns around, his worst nightmare materializes in the form of a salesman standing right behind him. Cool as a cucumber and displaying complete professionalism, the salesman greets Andy With, "Good day, Bollix. How may we help you today?" Very uncomfortably, but hoping that the salesman may just not have been there at the time of her accident, he asks, "Sir, what is the price of this lovely vehicle?" He answers, "Mate, if you farted just touching it, you are going to poop yourself when I tell you the price."

and don't forget to remove the blocks of wood from the pedals and his booster seat

but to be honest the smell of curry is what puts me off and the flys

gotta mate that got a type r and its not normal he can spin it up in every gear upto 4th at over 100mph its like a bike engine
