ive got a question?Im new to 1/5 scale so being that i purchased a km buggy....i know...its not an hpi but pretty nice buggy.my question is i bought 19/55 pinion and spur gears for it,problem is the two seem to fit to tightly.so tight that it restricts the performance.Any help to this problem would be appreciated..thanks.Brand of the gears is integy.

check the gears make sure the tooth count is correct, i use alot of integy gears and pinions, and every so often they make mistakes, , also check the alignment of the upper rear engine mount, if its the blcak plastic small mount or is it the 1 piece alloy holder? km makes a mistake on some and they are a bit off set i had one like that makes things difficult, remove the top set screw for the clutch holder or engine mount and see if it shifts over

No offence but iv heard this problem 1 to many times with clones
Does the stock gear set up bind up aswell ?

thanks guys for the replies.the stock gearing lines up great and everything turns smoothly but the integy seems a little tight when you turn the back wheels or run it.the integy gears go on pretty easy just when i ran it or turn the back wheels i can feel restrecticton.doesn't matter now lol ive got a new chassis ordered where i broke the other one.

sounds like you got way to many teeth !!

your ratio you added is 74

this what most cars ratio add up too

FG 64T

CARSON 67T

SMARTECH 67T

HOBBYPRO 68T

XRC 64T

no wonder its tight ..just a thought

Chris

these are fg or fg clones, the hpi and km use totally different ratios, also xtm ,fg clone ads to 67 also

you just brought a new chassis? i have a km with some alloy bits that i don't use and never beeen arsed to advertise it, or any other stuff i don't want for that matter.
it needs 2 gears that go into the diff ,which are £4 each but i hate the way they are built and layed out and cant be arsed with it,shame because thery handle great.i brought the alloy casing al;ready. imite get rid as a roller as i took the carb too, get rid cheap if your interested, done about 6 tanks only as i use my fg all the time,

got alloy front shock tower and supports, alloy rear shock brace, dom clone tuned pipe, alloy diff case.saves money from buying single spares all the time.

Hpi, km , rovan all run the 74 tooth combo
I run 19/55 on my hpi baja and the gear mesh is silky smooth (TR & Hostile gear setup)

Dave buy a good quality pinion & spur gear and you wont have that problem

the TR pinions are not that great either in their meshing i have serveral and unless your using the hostile gears they don't mesh with anything else, that does not work for me being limited to certain brands.
as for hostile gears, does he want plastic gears? i have always swapped out the plastics for metal but thats my preference,
