Hi all
Just thought , "Sunday " lovely I'm going for a little bit of a bash ! I've a fg pajero that has only a couple of tanks through and a smartech spider which I love to go mad with , so took the spider out of the car first and playing up and down the freshly cut grass and I found a little jump beside me where one field seperates the other and having a couple of nice wee jumps from one field to the other and I hadn't got full view ov the other side and landed in the only puddle in a square mile FFs , engine died and when I took a look my outerwears filter cover was soaked ! Pulled off filter and water in the carb :( took the plug out and pulled a few times to clear it and no joy !
Maybe il try a new plug in the morning as I'm only home now !
Do you think I've done the engine ? I was thinking maybe I have and might be a good excuse for a cy or zenoah to go in but I was hoping to get a little longer outta that we engine :( Has this happened to anyone else ?

Had a similar experience with my first E-Maxx - before any modifications.
Up she goes, GREAT JUMP, SPLASH!!
Got there just before the flames started!!!!!!
Battery and ESC stuffed.

Never know. As you say, give it a chance to dry out, perhaps purge any water out of the carb, and you may be in luck.

Cheers atom . I can't sit still lol I'm gonna go get it and have a play around with it here incase I can get a little more water out of it , it's stinking with grass and it needs cleaned anyway my Missis was video Ing but I will have to teach her coz the videos wernt up too much but she didn't catch the moment I hit the splash or I would have put it on for yous to have a giggle , I hope it's still ok coz I was thrashing the little pt engine knowing I could , because I had planned to eventually put a zenoah or cy into it , I like the look of voo2doo video with the 25.4 cc mill ! , looks rapid ! Just wanted a little longer from this one while I built my first engine up as I would need the gear carriers and mounts aswell but I will let her dry out tonight and see what's happening with it , fresh plug and cross my fingers :)

Sorry I forgot to update my own thread , I just thought I would let people know the outcome of me jumping into a deep enough puddle in my spider !
Took the car turned it upside down with the plug out , air filter off , and pulled until around 10 ml of water came out of my engine onto the floor , at this point I was hoping I hadn't done the crank in ! Had to let her sit overnight to let the air into the engine and carb to dry it a little more , and it was Sunday and I had no spare plug . Monday came put new plug in set needles to factory 1 full turn out each on h & l speed needles air filter back on and she started straight up although running a tiny bit rich and nice blue smoke coming out !
So happy ending all round apart from my exhaust is a little wonky il put a pic up of that in a mo ! :) she's running high speed needle at 7/8 of a turn out and low speed is around the same but I think my exhaust is losing me a slight bit of power , what do you guys do with these just put exhaust bandage on it ?

Looks like you had a good bash before it stopped on you :D
Watch out for grass clogging the flywheel. I see you've got the outerwares pull start cover but it also gets in under the engine between the mounts and in through the vent holes........a right pain in the arse to get out!! You can do a mesh mod to cover the vents and keep most of it out.

Yea mate grass everywhere ! And I mean everywhere lol it took a lot to get it all out ! I had a real proper bash that day :) decent jumps and a cracking cartwheel with no damage , it vertually landed on its wheels but the grass was only cut a couple of days before so you can imagine ! I'm doing the vent mod to the spiders new engine before I fit it , I already have it but I didn't know what glue to use & mesh, il have a look at some vids or tuts , the spider is being transformed into a bug with a zenoah 26cc instead of the smartech 23 pt engine with a ddm race port head and stuffed crank to come next , so I'm gonna take some pics as I progress and put em into the Marburg thread :) I've a way to go yet but il enjoy it :) :)

The spider came with the boost bottles on so I don't know what it was like without em , but It can shift ok ! But the zenoah g230 with a standerd pipe is a lot smoother and faster and far harder revving than the spiders 23 pt engine even with a pipe & boost bottles , but all in all for my first 1/5 scale it has been really reliable & strong I'd say 100% value for money , the wee 23pt with bottles will be going soon & a bug will be born :)
 
Forgot to say lol only damage that day was the springs on the pipe and waterlogged engine but started right up after it was dryed out ! :) I would recommend this buggy as a starter in 1/5 no problem to anyone , I drive it hard believe me lol but il have to calm down after its rebuilt lol
 
After the bash

This was after out bashing that day I jumped into the deep puddle I was having such fun that day :) was a great day out for a good hard bash but not so fun to clean lol it shows the importance of outerwears , il try to steer away from fresh cut grass in future takes ages to clean :(

At the minuet the car is in bits totally stripped to be transformed into a bug so il have pics up soon ! Here's a sneak peak ! The shell has to be painted and the whole car rebuilt with a few upgrades & alloy :)

Hi mate you must have read my mind ! Your pajero dee side vid inspired me to buy my one ! I am taking your advice and going for the ddm race port big bore for it ! God I love the vid of your one ! For anyone who hasn't seen it before here it is "enjoy " !

My little smartech engine is up on eBay in 2 hours with the boost bottles still attcached ! I bought this to replace it ! A zenoah 26cc with alloy large & small engine mounts

That's going in my beetle over the weekend !
This is my pajero I hope to be as fast as your one soon with the help off a ddm race port & stuffed crank ! :) and I might do it to the bug as well , I just need to see what the engines like first & then il go for it !
