Hey guys,

Well I picked this up a few days ago. I traded a Supercat 49" boat for it.

I have been into large scale for years but this is my first FG so I do have some questions. I would like to know about the shock springs. The truck is super stiff and I have real about changing the oil which I will do but I want to know why the springs seem to be short? Is this just the way they are?

I dragged the rigs outside yesterday for some pix. So my RR XB is also in some of the pix. That's another project that is going on this winter.

What I have been up today while my little guy is down for his nap. Pulled the wheels off and disassembled the rims. Going to do some polishing.

what dia are the shocks:D

the monster trucks have red 20mm dia unthreaded bodies as standard,

yours look as though they are touring car ones with the very stiff red springs

i have the same alloy wheels and with the optional centres

K....

That's a fantastic looking truck mate.
Hydros all around.
Those alloys are nice, but the problem is the beadlock rings are very exposed - to damage as these trucks MOVE and are HEAVY!!

Stiff suspension .......
Try LOOSENING the shock mounts and see if it was the alignment that made it stiff first...
Generally don't go above 2000 all around on the 8-shock MT's
I think I use RED springs all around, or red front, blue rear, to try and keep a balance.
Ensure the hinge pins and arms are in good order, and the nylon guides are as well - they're a wear item and mine wear out nearly every second month!!
High maintenance - YES!!
GREAT entertainment - Y E S !!
Check the servo saver - O-rings break frequently.

Now the standard comment - go over ALL screws and ensure they're nice and tight.

I will check.

Where do I buy FG shock springs? I looked on DDM and all they had were car springs.

Here are some pix I took of the wheels and tires. Top one is off the XB, the rest are the MT. And well all I have to say is HS!!

Hey thx for the info. DDM seems to carry only the one set. Going to order them and hope they help. Going to drop the oil to 50wt

Interested in those wheel nuts.

Well I did it.

Ordered the 7075 hollow gear plate, front knuckles, C hubs, rear carriers, and the bearings to go with. Then ordered the plastic mounted MT wheels and tires, volt watch's for both rigs, new fuel tank, lighter shock springs, and the chocolate bar from DDM for the FG. O and yesterday I ordered the DT1 air filter with the green outerwear's from TGN also for the XB.

I'm now RC broke. :)

HaHA money is never an option

the shock springs will not fit on touring car shocks, you need the 20mm shocks

one thing you may have forgot is a superbee kill switch:rolleyes:

Well every few years we get laid off and this was one of those years so money is defiantly an option right now. Just got to spread it out over the collection to keep things going. This FG has got me excited about large scale again. May have to sell off the electrics and pick up another FG Maybe a baja or a sportsline.

Rings and screws.
If you look at mine, I have alloys from JA Racing, but have glued on the MCD chevron tyres, that have a good shoulder, to take any knocks - well most anyway!

See how it goes, but it's a bit like 1:1 cars with alloys right to the edge of the tyre walls - you'll ALWAYS catch them, and once to you it once, you do it 20 times!!

I thought that when I saw them. SO between that and the weight I bought some stock plastic mounted ones from DDM. $70.00 a set.

So I did a little polishing on one rim and shined up the tires.
