Greetings. I just bought a new Baja rtr from ddm.
What are some first hop ups I should being looking for ?
Looking for some decent shocks ?
Thanks

Kill switch definetly. What about exhaust options ?

Basic upgrades, exhaust, shocks, servo's, airfilter setup, add a killerbee

Then il wait until things break or wear before upgrading anything else as these things are money pits

What brand of Baja fg hpi ?

If you haven't already, definitely look at reinforcing the radio tray or replacing it with a carbon or alloy one.
Look at the radio - 2.4GHz?
Alloy engine mounts are a favourite with most.
Longer term, look into upgrading the brakes - front cable or hydro and
KEEP the rear as the layshaft, but upgraded to tuning or hydro layshaft.
Tuned exhaust - read and look at photos in previous threads.
Space is quite limited with the Baja and many 'favourite' pipes require cutting great chunks out of the bodyshell from what I've seen.

Been looking at the new ones from DDM,is it a lot bigger than the original? measurements are about the same as their onroad ( 535 WB ).I have a Marder and really like it ,the short WB does well on the 1/10 th scale tracks around here,it gets around tracks That HPI baja doesn't do well on.

I think they're roughly the same just a different design

Hpi baja total different beast and requires driving skills ;)

The original W/B is 470mm, same as Marder, Stadium and MT - same basic chassis.
The trend has been to stretch these chassis - Alutec, etc. - so FG are going with the flow.
Perhaps some were complaining that 'they would have bought one, but the longer chassisied HPI 5B was more stable' ......

The 535mm W/B Baja has a totally new look, which I quite like.

Problem for FG now is where to go with the others?
Is the 470mm MT remaining or are there new bodies coming out?

I was going to convert to Alutec 535mm a couple of years ago, but no 535mm equivalent side braces existed - they do now - and also the current bodies just don't look right on the stretched chassis.
Perhaps the Proline Baja Beetle body fits?

Looks like Monster trucks have been stretched like the baja has but using the same old bodies,at least thats what it looks like on DDM website
