Is it better to get a big bore kit (such as this one *Link*) or purchase a new engine?

I have a CY23 on my Firehammer MT and thought that the big bore kit might be kinda fun to install.

Are there any additional tools I would need? Is it hard to do?

I just put a 27cc in the Gravedigger show truck. Very easy to do. They don't come with instructions, so do a search on your kit before you jump in. No special tools required, just use a good allen key to get the head bolts out.

I installed the 27cc top end kit as well. Very easy and worth the effort. I saw an improvement that I was happy with for the $$.
Biggest things I found was making sure to install the ring correctly against the piston pin, making sure the piston was in the right way and torquing the head on right. Other then that its real easy.....And cheap....Do it its also kinda fun and makes you understand the engine a little more. :)

This ones out to you motor heads!

I'm thinking for my Baja the 29cc with stuffed crank top end kit. Why? I wish I knew sounds good though right? - http://www.davesmotors.com/store/product616.html
What about this one? - http://www.davesmotors.com/store/product87.html

Will the stuffed crank give more low end.:helpsmilie: Or should I get it without. Can I get a bigger pinion with this set up and gain speed as well as a some torque?

I take it when you upgrade your Baja motor you had better get the HD drive shafts?

Just a little investigation before ordering.

Thanks

I just ordered the turtle racing billet diff saver and hd dogbones. I'll probably wait until beginning of the year before I buy the headkit. I wanted to beef everything up a bit before!

Either one of those sound sweet though. I guess the power you gain is unbelievable. I'd strengthen the drivetrain a bit first!

Can't believe that they don't come with some sort of instructions, that sucks. I will give the upgrade a go at some point on my zenoah 23cc so watch out for some questions and tips guy's.

hi csp1971 just did the upgrade on my 23cc to a 26.9 cc made a huge diffarence to mine i had to put wheelie bars on it .it was a first time for me and it was easy as the only thing i had huge probs with was just make sure you put the intake manifold gasket back on the right way (thanks timmahh)

Cool. I have a 28.5 sitting here waiting to go in. Too damn cold here and I don't want to sit in the garage and work on it just yet! It's going to be awesome, I can't wait to get started on it, just need some 50 degree temps here and I'll be set to start. Taking forever though. Could be worse I suppose.
