Back around late February I purchased a KSRC-002 Buggy 30.5cc (2 Speed Installed), and a KSRC-001 Baja Buggy 23cc. Now both buggies were run limited at 30% throttle very gently for the first 3 tanks of fuel to make sure a proper break in period was done. After the break in the KSRC-001 Baja Buggy 23cc continues to perform as expected without any issues. With that being said the KSRC-002 Buggy 30.5cc (2 Speed Installed) has been one problem after another. Break in went perfectly smooth, within a couple minutes of running at 100% throttle the one way bearing went south on the two speed. Dan of King Motor RC (Who by the way is great with customer service) sent out a replacement free of charge. I was quite excited to get the new one way bearing installed got my buggy out and running and within 10 minutes of running the steering servo went out. Fine I pick up a hitec 805MG had to build a custom mount because KM uses and oddball size servo. I get the servo replaced and all seems good, we get out and running again. 10 minutes into running the one way bearing in the two speed goes out AGAIN! My frustration level at this point is getting quite high. I send Dan an email and ask him what it's going to take to convert to a single speed. Another $50 I have to spend on this buggy. So for the time being I lock 2nd gear in so it can still be driven, it works alright just a bit sluggish out of the box. This afternoon I pull my buggy out to go rip it up first pull and my pull start strips out.

At this point I am done with this garbage baja, I have run a total of 4.5 tanks through this thing and 3 of those tanks were during break in. I think I am going to cut my losses throw this pile of junk on ebay and buy an HPI. Perhaps when I cool down I will change my mind but right this moment I am frustrated and done with this worthless junk.

My final thoughts with these buggies, spend the extra money and buy an HPI I wish I had done that instead of dealing with the frustration I have with the KSRC-002 Buggy 30.5cc (2 Speed Installed) huge waste of time and money. I am not a happy camper.

Sorry you are having such bad luck with you buggy but it is part of the hobby. Its your money so of course but what you will like I own 2 HPI bajas as well as king motor and rovan and all of the things except for the 2 speed has happened on my HPI my hpi buggy screw broke in the clutch bell the very first minute of running so it was down put in the better clutch system the screw was broke in the bell and I didn't want to waste time to take it out 5 mins later running the complete brake assembly fell apart had to stop again loss the brake shoes they flew some where more new parts. It took me 3 weeks to break that buggy which was fine because in the mean time I have other platforms that I would run until I felt like fixing that one again. Now a year later of course we have all the bugs worked out and it runs just as great as the rest. I race 5th scales every Saturday with other KM and HPI bajas and the KM ones does not break any more or any less the the HPI bajas it just happens with whichever platform you buy. I really do hate to hear about all the problems you are having I hope that if you do get an HPI that it does perform better for you and gives you much joy.

yah my t1000 has run like a champ haven't broken anything expensive really, just the PS on 2nd tank, solved by gettin a new one with the collar round the pawl and its still workin to this day just fine. i did lots of upgrading on mine, mostly on the upper portions. goin to alloy parts. but in total mines been a great lil truck so far, and i bought mine 3 years ago

Wow maxx I wish I got 4.5 tanks of fuel out of my km Baja . But I went into my purchace saving money for upgrades so my first one was a brand new hpi/cy 26cc fuelie from the Baja ss kit. Guess what it failed me on the first tank . Ended up with loose cylinder bolts and had to regasket a new motor. So km motor and hpi motor got me to 3 tanks in . Asked me if I was frusterated. Yes very . Pullstarts they are a consumable item on a Baja . Once you put outerwares on the whole motor there service life gets longer but if you are running in dusty conditions expect to have to service your pullstart everytime you want to run it . Clean it with compressed air and dry lube it with graphite lube , best solution I had found. But I carry 4 spare pullstarts that get used everytime I go out for a day . As for your one way bearing , that works well for lighter rcs but a Baja is just too heavy to deal with the torque loads . Go to a one speed set up with a hostile spur gear and enjoy trouble free running.

ok DEEP breath! Yesterday was a bad day and while my frustration level is rather high with this car I am just going to take a step back for a few days. I have been in the RC hobby for 20+ years now so I knew what I was getting into, I just have not had to deal with such a lemon before. BUT with that being said I am going to continue forward with it, at some point I will remove the pull start to inspect where it failed and see if I can manufacture parts that will be less likely to fail (I program and operate a waterjet, and I am a welder so I am sure I can figure something out). So with that we are gonna try it again...

By the way my buggy came with factory outter wears on it and even if it didn't all it has seen up to this point is street use...

like i said get a ps with the collared pawl the collar keeps the pawl from jackin sideways and messing it up, mines 3 years old after the original no collar ps did that, hasnt messed up since i put the collered style on mine

i broke the plastic pawl on two pull starts after only 10-15 pulls,,,,,,,i got a cnc aluminum p.s.pawl and its been good for 30+ so far.ebay$12.the 2 speed i have is the locker type.so far its been good for over two gallons, lifts the front end when it locks into second+second gear is alot higher ratio than the clutched type.i looked both up and clutched 2nd gear is like 2 sizes up from stock. and the locker is four,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Do you have a link to the pawl and 2 speed you went with? Mine will lift the front end on 1-2 gear shift but if I hammer on it that way I only get 1 or 2 runs before the 1 way bearing craps out.

i found the locker ebay#141031107826.i have built three and set them for people.they are all still going well cause i told them to get a hold of me if they have a problem as i have a couple xtra parts.neither has+ mine is fine.the screws are cheap but i got better at ace for pennies.its not externally adjustable but comes apart easy.i got good at adjusting if you need,,,,,,,,,,,i cannot fine the aluminum pawl.keep looking on ebay.i'll look for the store i used,,,,,it was a year ago.

I contacted the ebay seller about his two speed, now I just need to deal with the pull start. I got mine all put back together with loctite, ran for 5 minutes and suddenly the engine died. After pulling the pull start off I found the center screw came loose and allowed the pull start to gut itself into the flywheel ERRG! So I am gonna ditch this pullstart and figure something else out. The car runs great otherwise and it was a delightful 5 minute run lol. Getting closer just gotta iron out the wrinkles.

loctite has to dry for 12 hours before use.i have noticed that if you install loctite and use it right away, it will actually allow the screw to spin easier cause its a slippery liquid.
