Im thinking about buying a riven baja 5b but then I'm seeing posts compared to them about king motors. I was just wondering the pros and cons of each and which one i would be better off with.:):)

it seems that the thought across forums is the km is better quality, cant say from personal experience because I don't own a rovan.do a search and im sure you will come to the same conclusion.
goodluck..

good idea but also read as many relevant threads as possible, videos wont show all you need to know.
is it your first 1/5? I think most people upgrade anyway so you can always make it more durable , performance orientated or even bling it up and have a shelfqueen if that floats your boat.
just remember most parts are interchangable between the hpi, rovan and km baja anyway.

if I had a choice now to have either one, id probably go km. im sure you'll have plenty of fun whichever you choose.

Definitley KM over Rovan. But True HPI is still best over all. I have iwned all three. don't waste your money on Rovan. Their stock motors are better than KM but thats where it ends.

I would say KM is better then the rovan also it depends on when you bought your KM because the rovan stock motor is not better then the new stock KM 4 bolt motor.

I wasnt aware that they had put a different 4 bolt motor on their Baja's recently, the 4 bolt that came on the one i bought wasn't worth a darn from day one. So i am glad they changed that problem. It has been about a year ago when i got it and that was the only real problem i had with it other than that for the price it was a pretty good alternative to the Hpi for the most part.like with real automobiles i may have just ended up with a motor that was a lemon also. The Rovan was bought first and its motor went on the KM before i sold the Rovan off for parts.

I have all three..the hpi 5t,the rovan terminator, and the km t1000..I like all three..have not had any major problems with any of them..just choose which one you like more and have fun..just don't buy used unless you know them or there maintaince procedures or you could run the risk of buying someone else's problems..just my .2 cents

Rovan and King motors are fairly good copies of HPI's Baja. My bud has a Rovan fully dressed up in HPI garments. You wouldn't know the diff. All parts fit with a little dremel love of course. That's the cool part of having a kit that everyone is copying. Don't need to tell you the bad side!

A year ago they only had the 2 bolt motor they didn't have a 4 bolt all of the KM of the newer models comes with the 4 bolt motor.

Why are we comparing motors when clearly that's the first thing that gets yanked out? Like I don't know. I never judge a kit by its stock mill. To me that makes no sense at all. The materials, build spec, rigidity, and the ability to continuously use the HPI brand for support. The Rovan does that very well. Im sure the KM also. Its like trying to say which triplet Is stronger, or looks better ect. There damn near the same, there meant to be the same. If that's your flavor then either is fine. In fact I would go with the cheapest. the left over money that you would've blown on an over priced HPI, you'll have in hand for some wicked hop ups. Cheers!:cup-3:

Excellent answer I do say!

"FROGMAN RC"

I personally don't have the rovan or the hpi but I do have as my 1st KM t1000 GT short course truck. It's an impressive truck. No big issues as of yet. (2tanks) If you do go KM just make sure you prepare it before you start it.
KillerBee kill switch
KillerBee shock cables
Hitec Throttle servo
Better radio (Futaba )
Dump & refill shocks (HPI fluid)

Probably the biggest job you will do is the transfer case fluid check. (Which i have yet done) my transfer case is fine so far but need to get to that. Good luck on purchase. Oh btw Go to Dan on eBay. He will set you up. Great guy.

get a km,,, unless u plan on racing national level stuff,,, hpi's are only allowed,, allot of forums have people against clones. , just a fyi,, as far as the cars go,,, the cars have same problems as the hpi ones, but plastic I have noticed is softer and maybe a bit less forgiving in the km ,, but comes with some spares to hold u for a little while if u break something,, u are gonna upgrade the same parts eventually ,, don't matter if its a km or hpi ,, but the car starts at half the price,, I bought my km001 buggy roller for 330 bucks,, added engine, electrics which u gonna replace anyway and go,, and don't forget the killer rc superbee kill switch though, first thing u should buy,,
