Hi, I need help solving an issue I am having with my 1/5 scale shengqi hummer. The problem is to do with over fuelling. When I go to start the car from cold, if it doesn't start on the first few pulls the engine will flood. The only way it then resolve this is to undo the carb. I can then get the car to start, and it revs high and clears the bore of fuel. Then when I put the carb back on, if I make sure I start the car in one or two pulls, it will start. If it doesn't start, the engines then floods again and it will not start, unless I remove the carb. And repeat the same process. If I can get it started, I have to keep the revs high, otherwise it will over fuel and stall itself and the require the carb to be taken off again. Does anyone know how to resolve this? Any help is really appreciated.
King Regards
Dan

The spark on the car is fairly good,
It has fit a brand new spark. I had a go at starting it yesterday with the carb put back to factory settings. And sure enough, it started. The problem I am having now is to do with the carb set up. It keeps chocking itself out and stalling. When I get it full throttle it struggles and sounds like it's going to stall. And does stall sometimes. It shouldn't be a problem with the carb, as it's a new one. So it just got to be the setup.

Hi Dan,

If its a new aftermarket carb - Walbro 813, 990, etc - I find unless you've a modified engine, they run rich.
May want to lean slightly - at least increase the idle speed a touch.

Does it have a choke? If you're trying to start it cold with the choke on, it will absolutely flood the engine with fuel if you're pulling more than a few times...try priming it and seeing I you can get if started without the choke...then as the above gentlemen stated, try tuning it out once you're up to running temp. Hope it helps, keep us posted.
