I have been running my DBXL for awhile now and I am thinking about doing a brushless conversion. The area I live in the buggy is just to loud and i'm tired of the cops coming out because my neighbors called them. ( I know lame right) Now I have been looking at a couple of motors and was wanting your opinions on them. I am only thinking about running on 8s I don't think I will need more than that.

This is the ESC I am thinking about going with.

If there is a better motor out there let me know.

Check Castle, they've got a pretty nice package deal. You do realize it will still be someone loud hearing the metals gears but not as loud as the gasser. One thing you need to realize with these 5th Scale Rigs, you need to be mindeful of your neighbors. I never run my rig in the neighborhood just to avoid those issues. I'm sure you can find some open area where you can just go crazy and not bother anyone. The electric conversion is okay but you'll quickly get tired of having to switch out batteries every 8-12 minutes when you can be running up to 45 minutes on one tank....depending on what you have. Just my .02. Good Luck!

Must admit, unless its a noise / smoke emissions issue, then electric power doesn't work for me with Largescale.

Leopard motors are excellent value and decent quality.

+1 on the backwards step of replacing batteries every 12-15 minutes when you could be running 50-60 minutes on petrol / gas.

I have a huge fenced in backyard i live just on the edge of town but there is a trailer court about 1/2 a football field away and they are the people that call on me. I am just looking at options on how to still be able to drive it and have fun and not have the cops come out and spoil my good time.

How long can you rip around your fenced in backyard before you get bored and put it away? 15 min of listening to "braaaaap braaaaaaaaaaaap!" in a residential area, ya I'd call the cops too. I love the sound of these things but a time and place for everything. So, I'd say go brushless if that's all you're worried about and that's the only place you'll drive it. If you have to travel any distance to run the buggy, you'll want more than 15 min worth of battery. That definitely adds to the cost of the conversion. You'd need 6 battery packs to equal one tank of fuel. Also the convenience factor. Take twelve body pins out every 15 min to change packs or just stick the gas can neck thru the window and you're good for another 40 min, all within 30 seconds. I can see why people go electric over nitro. I've done it myself. I was tired of glow plugs, air leaks and the cost of nitro fuel, etc. But, with these two strokes, those aren't really concerns. If you have a good place to run them I'd stay two stroke. If you don't have a place to go without offending the people that can't appreciate a good "braaaaap!" sound, then go electric. And get your wallet out for that conversion, batteries and a 4 port charger lol

Batteries and charger I have all I run is electric this buggy is my only gas vehicle I have. I have a track I made myself in my yard so I'm not just hauling ass from one end to the other.

Now you've got me looking at BL conversion for mine and I just sent my methanol 30.5FM motor back to OBR for gas conversion, lol. Was gonna put it on my DBXL. I did convet a Baja with a castle kit and it was crazy quick and a lot of fun. Neighbor guy saw me run it and wanted to buy it, so sold it before I even ran 3 packs though it, lol.

Have you considered the HK stuff? There is a shed load of conversions there and quiet cheap so if you wanted to go back to 2 stroke you wouldn't loose a great deal of cash.

So after my weekend noise violation I went to the county sheriff office and had a talk with them. I told him where I lived and that I keep getting the cops called on me he told me since I lived about a football outside city limits I can run the vehicle he took my name and number down and about 30 minutes ago he called and said he talked to the lady that keeps calling and it shouldn't happen anymore. So it looks like I will stay with my gas motor.
