My 30.5cc fuelie I purchased from King Motor came in a "Rofun" box so I'm assuming it's all the same stuff. I shattered 3 pistons within a month and finally gave up on the thing. It produced good amounts of power when it was running. I would say, when it craps out, get a quality piston and it should be good to go. The castings on the piston are just really thin and poor quality. Maybe you'll be lucky, who knows. I just got tired of rebuilding the thing after the 3rd time. A lot of people run the RTR Rovan Baja's that have the same motors and seem to have good luck with them. I'm running second hand CY motors now and they all seem super reliable. After my 3rd Rofun motor rebuild I sold it to a local guy and I haven't heard him call me to complain, so maybe 3rd time was the charm?

BTW, the replacement pistons for these things run for less than $10. I see upgraded ones for $80+, so I guess that's a testament to the difference in quality.

@Bryan K. If the piston craps out, it will be a good learning experience on tearing down and rebuilding??

For sure, that's pretty much how I learned. Just make sure you get all the piston shards out of the head and bottom end as well as the rod bearings. I would just go ahead and replace the rod bearings as they are really cheap anyways. The head would also need inspection as the piston pieces could scratch up the surface. Those should be pretty cheap.

That's a CY engine that's used in many of the Rovan's . I own a Rovan and the same 36 cc engine. I'll be totally honest speaking from my in-depth experience of this engine and i'll say it's a total cheap POS out of the box in stock form. It will run, it can be tuned to run great and get the intended job done good, BUT be very wary of random air leaks. These CY engines are slapped together so poorly from the factory but you won't notice this unless you completely tear the engine down and examine all the internal parts. Keep your air filter clean, always favor a slightly rich tune, and the stock engine will run good. search under my user name and you will find some good reading info on my experiences with the CY engine.

thanks for the info @Polar_Bus

so when i bought this engine, i had a choice either for losifivet or "baja". do they mean rovan hpi baja
i chose it for losi fivet because i was planing on building one for my son

plans changed its going in the kraken vekta lse . so my question is, what is the difference? i'm thinking it's the clutch housing?
do i need to get a different clutch housing for a baja to fit it in the kraken?

Yes. The Vekta uses the baja/standard clutch housing.

What he said.btw ,these rovan motors are not real cy. They are knock offs and just says cy. Real cys are really reliable , and they don't even make up to a 36
