Looking to purchase a 1/5 scale truck in the next few days and was wondering whats good and whats junk? I have heard that FG is top notch and firehammer is ok but not the same quality. Anyone have advice it is apperciated,i was also looking at FS racing there trucks kinda look cheap, opinions?

i have an fg mt. the redcats look good also. if i was to buy another mt it would be a redcat or smartech titan both 4wd.

I own 3 Large scales

1. FG MB Pro
2. MCD BAJA 1000 EVO III
3. MCD Race Runner EVO III

for your first 5th scale I would suggest the FG MT it is bulletproof and fully upgradable you'll have fun with it for years.

i have a few, 2 bajas and bergonzoni onroad. gonna be selling off one baja to buy one 5T.

yeah i think a 2 wheel is what i am looking for. the firehammers, are they junk? I hear ppl saying how good they are when i saw looking at other forums.

I was just at the Ihobby Expo in chicago. I saw the Rampage Pro Upgrade by Redcat Racing. WOW !!!!! That thing was cool. It was all aluminium. The only plastic parts i believe where, servos, receiver, rims and body. Every thing else was all alloy. I wish I had a camera so I could have took a picture. It was very awesome looking. 4x4 Monster Truck, with a 30.5 cc engine. I think it's too new seeing that I have seen nothing out on it yet, meaning no input from anyone that's bought one and really drove it hard. just my 2 cents.

I am running a Redcat. Like any rc it has it's flaws but the flaws just means a reason to add bling or upgrades. The maain issue I haave had is with dogbone pins. I replaced 2 that broke with drill bit shanks and so far holding well. I am just waiting for an answer about mcd cvd's but the mcd dogbones are a direct replacement

I broke a lower front suspension arm but hitting a rock jumping downhill with a 50 lb rc will break any plastic arm, no matter what brand. I boiled the new arms before installing this time for a little security

I've had 4 fg's, a dynamic and now own an fg and a redcat. so far I love the way this 4wd handles. I have all the parts to swap it between mt and buggy as well. buggy is for the track, mt for bashing.

All models have there problems in need of upgrading. The Firehammer MT and Buggy have them also. Gears, diff, and motor mounts are in need of upgrading. This brings the price of a 2wd MT closer to some of the cheaper 4wd's like the Rampage. The RTR's are something to be desired in all models. The radios are cheap the servos are the least costly. What ever you get it will need something to keep it from down time. Most of us get what is the weakest of parts right away and upgrade as the others break.

Looking for a good used one is a good way to get a model cheap and put the money that it would of cost in upgrades. Careful on where you get your used model. Making sure it is from someone you can trust is the biggest hurdle. Most of the real good deals on Ebay are ones to look out for. Most of the time they will be with problems that the original owner did not know how to fix and the other parts will be worn also.

Thanks, i decided to bid with like 40 seconds to go(the wife made me) the guy before me would have won it cheap i think it was 671$ before i bid. I am VERY VERY happy:)
