I just wanted to make a thread so we can get most of the differences between the two brands explained in one easy to read thread for all the newbs like me.

I see that they have different ignition, carb and crank options.I am also unsure on the piston sizing between comparably sized motors. There are quite a few members on here that have had a bunch of each so I figured I would try to pick their brains. This isn't a which is best or why buy a big bore when OBR will be just as good.I am just trying to get the motors eaplained in sort of an idiots guide to big bore hence me being the idiot of course haha,

Yeah I am going to pull the trigger in the next month or so.I am leaning towards the 40-65 range but the 65 seems a like it may be more than I need.I would like to keep from modifying the body and cage on the Vekta if possible. I would like to have an easier to start engine if possible too.

Your gunna need to modify the body with any of the engines I'm sure
Imo , just pick whichever you like better, neither is better than the other, both are great motors and will put a a smile on your face regardless of Brand

Yeah I like the round filter style intake and the splash anodizing isn't my cup of tea either but it is very nice just not my style.

Technically speaking what are the differences between the two brands are the 40cc from both using the same sized piston and crank or different sizes and strokes?I know the RcMax is using the RCMK ignition and the ALX is suing an Italian brand I think?

I just mean I am guessing they both are making their own custom crankshafts and just wondering if there is any difference between the two.I may be getting too technical but I like to learn as much as possible especially when we are talking thousands not hundreds of dollars.

Ok. So I have never had a supreme engine so really cant speak on them. I also know zero on the technical details of either? but I can tell you my alx s50 is a monster. Compared to my OG rcmax 65 it's a beast. I know its apples and oranges but it's all I have to go by. I also am not into the splash anodising for my vehicles so that would not be a deciding factor either. Customer service is 2nd to none on both sides too so that shouldn't be a factor. Rcmax.uk and ALX both use the same shipping methods so getting the products is not an issue. Just as Z said, pick one, and you wont be disappointed. ALX for the win tho?

Alx doesn't have custom cranks I believe, it's a bzm /malossi one for a mini bike of some sort. I doubt you'll notice any difference. Rcmax said they went to custom cranks because they were experiencing bearing failures with the off the shelf cranks because of the high rpm, but I have yet to see a alx crank fail.

You know my answer.

But for reals, you can't go wrong with either. Mike's GT cylinders and new supreme engine are awesome. Personally the older 65 was one of my least favorite engines I ran. Had one less than. Week and sold it.

I think Mike just says stuff like that to make alx look like a bad option which is not cool imo, I do know rcmax had a problem with the custom con rod snapping ?

As for the differences in the 40cc engines there is quite a few,
Alx 40.. 36mm bore with 39mm stroke
Rcmax 40.. 40mm bore with 32mm stroke, so it's a short stroke 50cc jug.
Alx will be bringing out a short stroke 50 soon that will be 44cc and its a screamer?
