Does a stock Baja ( Rovan ) have ackerman built in to it ?? or does an HPI ? If not are there after market arms that are adjustable ? thanks

Don't think so, the Baja platform uses a bell crank system. If it does, it isn't adjustable on either, and there isn't an upgrade for it.Does a stock Buggy ( Rovan ) have ackerman built in to it ?? or does an HPI ? If not are there after market arms that are adjustable ? thanks
I understand Ackerman, used on all racing Karts thats why I asked , that is a good video for explanation of the concept !! On the karts it was adjustable with several holes in the steering arms and center hub where the turnbuckles mount , we would adjust it for different tracks and turn radius. Here this is worth watching .
Thats why I was looking into ackerman on these things , the DRIFT RC guys have nice ackerman setups but they are smaller scale , If you had a steering arm that was extended with extra holes in it you could adjust it easily and increase it ! custom part but hey.Honestly I would say the BAJA (hpi or rovan) have ackerman in the steering. If you turn your wheels all the way right or left the inside tire is angled in more than the outside. As the guy was saying in the video for his buggies the front end is real light so if the ackerman is off he doesn't notice . Ours are rear steer setup per the video but also very light in the front end so we have a lot of Understeer to begin with so the baja's push if you don't let off the gas first before turning in.
Change out the rear toe plates (should be included with the rig) to the 1 or 0 ones. I did that and it helped turning a bit.with and without spacers , it can be hard to tell how much increase from these PIX but it is increased , gotta test run it
I have been meaning to try that as well Z , Im gonna test out these spacers and see how that works first then try the read toe change , I have a habit of always looking at this stuff thru a race car/ Kart setup for tracks , I know for just bashing/screwing around this crap is useless. But I like to mess with it more then rebuilding every month lol !Change out the rear toe plates (should be included with the rig) to the 1 or 0 ones. I did that and it helped turning a bit.
Hey man, the Baja needs all it can get steering wise ??I have been meaning to try that as well Z , Im gonna test out these spacers and see how that works first then try the read toe change , I have a habit of always looking at this stuff thru a race car/ Kart setup for tracks , I know for just bashing/screwing around this crap is useless. well I had to tear down to replace the frame so I changed the rear toe to a 3 ( was a 1 ) see what happens ? maybe Ackermann and 3 deg toe will make it turn normally LOL ? doubt it I bet if you corner weighed these things they would be like 65-70 % rear weight . might need lead !Hey man, the Baja needs all it can get steering wise ??
I think you will see a reduction in steering. I was at 3 and went to one and saw that it was looser in the ass end, and turned around better. If you like to rear wheel steer ( I happen to in a car ) they are easy to change so I can mess with the setup , I am basing this on hard surfaces not dirt , I have looked at the other types of steering the stock stuff is a crap design.I think you will see a reduction in steering. Another thing that will help is a good a servo and TR servo saver, even just the saver helped mine then around alot better.
gonna mess with rear tow and ackermann first , then check the corner weights IF I can ?Try about 10 oz of lead on the front of the chassis...
I was being funny, but in all seriousness, if your truly worried about better cornering, you need to get some weight up front. I don't think just suspension tuning will get you that kart pin point turn. Too much weight in the rear of the dumb thing if you know what I mean.If you like to rear wheel steer ( I happen to in a car ) they are easy to change so I can mess with the setup , I am basing this on hard surfaces not dirt , I have looked at the other types of steering the stock stuff is a crap design.

I agree with you , im gonna try to corner weight it just for fun to seeI was being funny, but in all seriousness, if your truly worried about better cornering, you need to get some weight up front.
