Please share the file(s) here. I have a 3d printer and will give it a try.

A 3d scanner is fairly easy and cheap to make and would take most of the measuring and scaling part of the job off your hands then you can modify what you want afterwards.

A 3d scanner is easy and cheap to make ?? Please elaborate and tell us how  I was looking to buy a 3d scanner ,but they are expensive.

ya, sorry I meant how to make a 3d scanner, I edit my post.

I wouldn't try to print all of the parts either, but it would be cool to print replacement parts as needed.

Where did you find the stl files? I would still like to check them out.

It was a 1/10 scale that I scaled up so the parts are not correct , I didnt find a 1/5 scale one , I needed something to 3d design around so I did that.

There are tons of articles on how to do it.Last time I checked was maybe three years ago and it was affordable then so should be even cheaper now.I will say this if you are looking for extremely precise scanning then time to spend some money.I just tossed the idea out there in case you wanted something to get you relatively close.

theres an opensource 3d scanner now also 3d print the mech. parts etc. very low cost , free software etc.

if you wanted to make a part from another material ( metal etc ) this would be a good way to get a 3d model to input into a cnc mill, also of you wanted to modify a part it would be easier to use a 3d model to start from !
